Try a last minute spring sking break at Whistler. I go the 3rd week in May as this is the last weekend that both moutains are open. Tickets are almost half price and lodging can be peanuts compared with in-season rates. Check the extended weather forcast as I did. April 23 and 24th were forcast for clear skies and 6 inches of snow the day before and away I went. This is one of the more interesting times to go as a mixture of sports crossover. The rivers are coming up (Squamish, Elaho and Cheakamus) for rafting an the notorius winds sweep down from the moutains into Howell Sound for excellent kite sailing at Squamish. There are crowds at Whistler village, but Blackcomb is peaceful. Sitting at the Longhorn, sipping a pint with the tempature just like a hot summer day and looking at the moutains after 5 hours of great skiing makes life worthwhile
