Traveling With Small Children

The Mexican opinion about where children are welcome is similar to that of people in most other countries.

Of course one would not take children into a night club or to an activity that is age inappropriate, like para-sailing. There is no need, however, to worry that children would be unwelcome in an elegant restaraunt, or almost anywhere else.  The fact that visitors to their country bring children with them is greeted with strong approval. When in doubt, bring the kids.

If you have a minor health need, the 'primera clase' (first class) pharmacies ("farmacia") in Mexico are staffed with trained pharmacists. Staffing in other pharmacies may be handled by lesser-trained personnel, but in most instances all personnel in pharmacies will be helpful to tourists.

If necessary, a the pharmacist will be ableto assist you in locating a physician or dentist, or other medical specialist.  Your home-country consulate in Mexico typically maintains a list of medical personnel to whom they refer nationals of that particular country and you may wish to consult the consular office for a recommendation, also.

Pharmacy and medical personnel in Mexico may lack foreign language skills, so use your phrasebook or dictionary to help communicate.
