The Green Monkey Dive Shop offers a variety of services for those who wish to explore Montserrat's underwater world, as well as for those who'd rather stay "topside." For those who wish to stay dry, The Green Monkey offers two-and-one-half hour island tours by boat beginning from the port in Little Bay and heading south just past Plymouth. From the sea, one can clearly view the paths taken by pyroclastic flows as the Sourfiere Hills Volcano simmers in the background. The Green Monkey also offers half-day deep sea fishing charters. The Green Monkey Dive Shop is operated under the expert guidance of Master Scuba Diver Instructor Troy Deppermann. With twenty-plus years of dive experience, Troy is abundantly qualified to lead experienced divers as well as instructing the novice diver. An ex-US Marine, he posses nine advanced specialty certifications including Underwater Navigator, Night Diver, Deep Diver, Search & Recovery, Emergency First Responder, and Peak Performance Buoyancy. Troy also possesses specialty training in AWARE Coral Reef Conservation and PROJECT AWARE. In 2006, Troy was commissioned by the government of Montserrat to identify and map the dive sites on the island and has authored the recently published A Guide to The Underwater World of Montserrat. In addition, he has just completed installation of sixteen dive moorings at the top dive sites throughout Montserrat waters.
Following a morning or afternoon of diving or snorkeling, guests can enjoy a refreshing drink at the Dive Shop’s newly remodeled bar facility, The Monkey Bar. The beach deck provides a perfect location for sipping a cool drink while watching the surf and sunset.
