My husband and I just spent the weekend at this hotel. The hotel is pretty and is very New Orleans. The terrace on the top (7th) floor is a very nice place for a swim or a drink and has a wonderful view of the quarter.
The standard rooms are very small. This isn't a problem if it's just you and your partner, but just be warned (think an efficiency in Manhatan).
The best part of the hotel was its location. You can walk to any place in the quarter within 10 minutes. The service was also very friendly and the flowers give the hotel a wonderful aroma.
We had one little snafu when we checked in - we were given the wrong room, but the reception comped us our lunch at the Rib Room for what was really a very minor inconvenience.
The Rib Room, is nice. A great cool jazz band plays there. It is fairly expensive and you can find good food for less money in the quarter. We ate at the Gally - fantastic oysters on the half! St. Chartres House - good, but expensive, po boys. And of course, Cafe du Monde for wonderful, inexpensive and very messy beingets.
You'll have a nice time at this hotel. If you are skipping the B&Bs and staying central in the quarter, this is probably your best bet - unless you don't mind forgoing the entire ambiance of the quarter for a cheaper place (like a Ramada).
