“Perfect Location, Difficult Parking”

Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City

3 of 5 stars
Boston, MA
Jul 7, 2008

The location of this hotel is perfect - right across the street from City Hall and around the corner from many other hotels (two other Marriott properties, as well as the Four Seasons). You are within easy walking distance of most of the sights, shops and restaurants (except perhaps S. Philly).

It is also very, very easy to reach from I-95 - although parking is difficult. As of 7/08, they are charging $42 per day for valet parking (the only option aside from finding a garage yourself), and the waits to retrieve/deposit your car can be very long. They advise you to call them 30 minutes prior to needing your car, but more often than not, nobody picked up the line, and the car wasn't brought around for 15-30 extra minutes.

Rooms, breakfast, general service are average/above average - about what you would expect for a hotel in this price range.

“Great hotel for family of five!”

Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City

5 of 5 stars

This hotel was the 6th hotel and second to the last stop on a long road trip with three kids so our 2 bedroom unit pleased all of us. The rate of $189/night was a good deal considering the town was packed for Olympic Trials in gymnastics. After looking at off property parking options we decided to bite the bullet w/ the daily parking rate ($36/day) and were pleasantly surprised with the prompt service. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but a tad smaller than other Residence Inn properties that we've stayed at.

The complimentary breakfast made up for the parking costs. There were options for the whole family: eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, bagels, muffins, toast, dry cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit (bananas and apples) and different types of yogurt. There was always room for our family (which can sometimes be a problem at hotels that provide breakfast) and items were restocked regularly.

The hotel was a nice walking distance to Independence Hall. Our kids wanted to do the Once Upon a Nation Storytelling series and we found ourselves walking to the area on three consecutive days.

We were happy that Chili's and Maggiano's were close to the hotel and provided wonderful take out options for our brood. Philly was not a city to walk around at night with young kids.

Overall, we loved the hotel and the staff, who were always kind and helpful, and we would stay there again if ever in Philadelphia.

“Pretty good”

Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City

Hotel was in good shape. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Location is great! We parked our car and did not use it again until we left. Booked our package through "gophila.com" so our parking was included (otherwise it was a whopping $75 for two nights!!!) Staff was a bit inconsistant...either "extremely helpful and pleasant" or "bored and bothered". There was one error on our bill, but it was corrected when we pointed it out.
Free breakfast was really nice. Food was fresh and restocked regularly.
There is no pool...even though the website says there is. It was taken out sometime earlier this year. You can use the pool at the Courtyard, right next door, if you ask at the front desk though.

Area is a little "sketchy" especially at night (what part of downtown Philly isn't), but really no worries during the day. Located within walking distance (about 8 blocks) of Independence Hall and all the touristy stuff and 3 blocks from the Reading Terminal Market. We took the Septa subway to the Wachovia Center/stadiums. The stop was right across the street from the entrace to the hotel and the orange line took you directly to the stadium stop (no changing trains).

Would stay here again.

“BEWARE !!!!!!”

Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City

2 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Jun 12, 2008

The hotel has many issues. The 1st room were were given smelled like cigarette smoke and they were able to send us to another room. This room was about 100 sq. ft smaller. Due to fire code the hotel does not provide roll away beds. This was never disclosed to us during booking. The bed issue is a problem with preteen children being forced to sleep in the same bed. The valet parking was terrible - long waits and when my car was returned during check out the passengers side window was cracked from an attempted break-in. The hotel did take parking off the bill, however their parking service ( Town Park LTD) claims no responsibility ...WHAT !!!! This will now cost us another $275.

The pool is small and in the basement. The pool was seriously over chlorinated and generally not clean. The food served at the buffet was sub-par and no other food is available in the hotel. Please consider the rate vs. experience factor when booking. Try the Marriott 1 block away for a great room with pool and food service.

Never to return !!!!

“Loved This Place”

Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City

5 of 5 stars
central florida
Jun 8, 2008

First let me say we are NOT city people, county bumbkins at heart!

We traveled to Philadelphia for medical school graduation and chose to stay here across from City Hall and the fact that the price was right and they offered a reasonably priced airport shuttle service.

We stayed two nights and could not have been more pleased. The accommodations were great.

The bed was so comfortable! The complimentary breakfast was more than anyone could possibly ask for - from eggs to make your own wafflles, to bagels or yogurt, there was something for everyone and it was included in the room charge.

We had a studio, with a full size refrig, coffee pot, microwave etc and coffee and tea and popcorn was furnished.

The room was plenty large enough and my significant other lived on the wireless internet while I relaxed with a good book.

Great value for the money considering other hotels in the area were well over $200 per night.

Highly recommend this facility. The front desk was extremely helpful and courteous at all times of the day.
