This is the letter I sent to the general manager:
We visited Boston last week, as we do often, because our daughter lives there. We dined at your hotel twice, it being one of our favorites. We will never dine there again.
It was not because of the food. It was excellent. And the service at the bar was superb. It was because of what happened when we wanted a cab.
The night before, we got a cab from your hotel to the Park Plaze where we were staying. It cost us about $6. On the night in question, Thursday, we asked your doorman to get us a cab and he indicated that we could have the hotel courtesy car instead. It sounded like a great thing so we agreed. Imagine our surprise when we were charged $25 for
the short ride when we got to the hotel, the driver saying that it was a private company. We were appalled that we were conned like that.
On Wednesday night we spend about $200 in the dining room --there being 4 of us and on Thursday night we spend $350 in the dining room--there being 7 of us and an additional $120 in the bar afterward.
It is a shame that the greed of the hotel (or perhaps the doorman)will prevent us from ever coming to your hotel again. Thank you for your prior good service. Unfortunately, the quest for an additional $25 has ruined this for us and has left us with such a bad taste in our mouths that we will not make a repeat performance.
