“Renting Condos Can Be a Risky Endeavor”

Kihei Beach Resort

We've stayed at the Kihei Beach Resort three times, all in unit 508, and have absolutely loved our stays. We would have given them excellent ratings.

When we started planning this vacation 6 months ago, we were thrilled to see that Unit 606 was available, so we booked it in March for 7 nights. Everything was paid for and all we had to do was get on the plane.

10 days before we were set to leave, we received a phone call from the property management company, Ali'i Resorts, and were told that there was a reservation discrepancy, evidently the owner or their friends showed up and we were being kicked out. We were offered a couple options at that location, but the units were very outdated and not how we planned to spend our Maui vacation.

While we understand that the property management company may not have been at fault, they certainly didn't go out of their way to find us an equal or better place to stay. Our options were outdated units or a full refund. We opted for the full refund and found another place to stay and will not be doing business with Ali'i Resorts again.

Of course we're disappointed, but we will absolutely have a wonderful time in Maui and will not let this ruin our vacation. This probably doesn't happen often, but we learned the hard lesson that renting condos is not always a sure thing.

We stayed in #608 5/28-6/4 and had a wonderful time. The view was beautiful and the room was very comfortable. We paid $160 a night and had ocean front room on the beach. It was so great!!The sound of the waves would put you to sleep at night. The beach was so peaceful and quiet, not all the hustle bustle of the commericalized areas. We highly recommend this place. The pictures are right behind our condo just steps from the beach.

This was our third stay in 6 years and we will be returning again when we get the chance. This is the only place we will stay on Maui. The big name resorts in Wailea are beautiful but over-priced and not practical for a two week stay with kids. Lahaina is too crowded and usually hotter than Kihei. Also, in my opinion, this is the only place to stay in Kihei as other Kihei locations don't appear as quiet or have panoramic ocean views.

Know which units to stay in. End units are our preference because they have a large bay window on the side which lets in alot of light. We recently stayed in unit #310 for two weeks and it was the best yet. The unit was newly remodeled; tile floors, granite contertops, new kithchen appliances, etc.

We had a fun time.

“Unit #506 Was Wonderful!”

We just returned from our wedding and honeymoon on Maui and spent 9 wonderful days at Kihei Beach Condos, unit 506. I would highly recommend staying here! The property was very clean and quiet. The online photos are exactly how it is! Beautiful sunsets right from your lanai. It was nice to return to our quiet oasis in Kihei after visiting the busier tourist areas of the island. Being on our honeymoon, we enjoyed the feeling of being somewhat secluded from the crowds but only minutes from all the amenities, i.e., restaurants, shops, beaches, and other activities. There were two days during our stay that we were the only two people on the entire beach! It was like our own private beach. When we return to Maui on future visits, we will definitely stay at Kihei Beach Condos. Other helpful tips for visiting Maui: buy the book "Maui Revealed" to get great reviews and inside info on what to do, where to go and where not to go. Don't visit Maui without going to Mama's Fishhouse in Paia. It's pricey but well worth the gourmet seafood dinners and spectacular views of the beach. Another good restaurant is Sensei Seafood right in Kihei. Excellent salmon and mahi mahi! Buy groceries at Costco or Walmart on your way from the airport - much cheaper than the local grocery stores (Foodland, Safeway, or Star Mrkt.). Also, alcohol is a lot cheaper at Long's Drug Store in Kihei. There's also a great produce market directly across the street from the condo complex. And an ABC general store just opened across the street the week we were leaving for last minute items like milk or snacks. Overall, I highly recommend Kihei Beach and would definitely return.

Just returned from a week at Kihei Beach Resort. We were immediately impressed with the clean and well appointed 1br + 2ba (#204, $180 per day) and 2br + 2ba (#410, $270 per day) condos we rented. All of the beds were very comfortable and they also have a nice queen sleeper in the living room. They had great air conditioning, plenty of towels, flatware, dishes, cooking utensils, spices, pots and pans, full size refrigerator and stove/oven. They each had unobstructed views of Ma'alea Bay with panoramas extending to Makena, Molokini and the island of Kahoolawe. Very quiet location at the north end of Kihei with direct access to miles of uncrowded beaches. The pool was small, but we preferred to swim in the ocean. We found great snorkeling 100 yards west of the property, home to many varieties of fish and turtles too. The condo location was perfect as we attended a great Luau at the Maui Tropical Plantation (middle of Maui) and a wedding at picturesque Poolenalena Beach (southwest Maui). The airport was close with shopping and restaurants a short drive in almost any direction. Across the street was the old Suda's Fish Market and gas station (closed in 2003). There is currently a fruit stand open during the week with an ABC store scheduled to open in May. I recommend visiting the Maui Ocean Center ($22pp), a trip up Haleakala ($10 per car) and slowing down to really enjoy Maui.
