Just returned from a week at Kihei Beach Resort. We were immediately impressed with the clean and well appointed 1br + 2ba (#204, $180 per day) and 2br + 2ba (#410, $270 per day) condos we rented. All of the beds were very comfortable and they also have a nice queen sleeper in the living room. They had great air conditioning, plenty of towels, flatware, dishes, cooking utensils, spices, pots and pans, full size refrigerator and stove/oven. They each had unobstructed views of Ma'alea Bay with panoramas extending to Makena, Molokini and the island of Kahoolawe. Very quiet location at the north end of Kihei with direct access to miles of uncrowded beaches. The pool was small, but we preferred to swim in the ocean. We found great snorkeling 100 yards west of the property, home to many varieties of fish and turtles too. The condo location was perfect as we attended a great Luau at the Maui Tropical Plantation (middle of Maui) and a wedding at picturesque Poolenalena Beach (southwest Maui). The airport was close with shopping and restaurants a short drive in almost any direction. Across the street was the old Suda's Fish Market and gas station (closed in 2003). There is currently a fruit stand open during the week with an ABC store scheduled to open in May. I recommend visiting the Maui Ocean Center ($22pp), a trip up Haleakala ($10 per car) and slowing down to really enjoy Maui.

Unit 308 was wonderful. We were wary at first having read reviews emphasizing the differential in units. We were able to have pictures sent to us before booking. The unit seems to be recently remodeled. Nice kitchen appliances and a great flat screen TV. The lanai has palm trees directly outside of it, which partially blocks the ocean view but also affords some privacy. We had no problem spotting whales and got some amazing photos while drinking our coffee. Great location. So easy to find from the airport and a short ride away from necessities such as grocery stores and dive shops. We didn't use the pool so can't comment there, but the lawn chairs were very convenient for sunbathing and the calm waters were wonderful for cooling off. Good snorkeling nearby. Highly recommend.

Kihei Beach Resort is perfect provided you know the unit you are getting. Some are beautiful and fully remodeled, some have not been touched in a LONG while.
306 and 606 are very nice but must be booked well in advance. 606 is the top floor and has a large sun area it shares with the next unit. Great kitchen and the view is to die for.
The lobby has been redone and is also very nice. Markets are close as well as Wilea, Makena and the aquarium.
Easy to get to from the airport and Costco is on the way.
Long beach to walk and a nice little pool.
Plan a trip to Lahina before the flights come in as traffic is horrible at certain times of the afternoon. Should take around 1/2hr

Enjoy yourself your on vacation and choose your unit wisely.

We found out about Kihei Beach Resort through tripadvisor. The condo units are individually owned and rented out by various companies. We contacted Ali'i Resorts via their website. We were greeted at our condo (room 608) with a bottle of chilled wine for our wedding anniversary trip. The room was just as pictured on the Ali'i Resorts website. Just about everything you could want is available - king size bed, plenty of towels, completely furnished kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, newer television - with cable, VCR and DVD players, washer and dryer. A beautiful view and quiet beach. We watched the Kihei Canoe Club row out every morning and had pretty sunsets every evening. Across the street is Suda's Farmers Market - fresh fruit, vegetables, breads and flowers M-F 8AM-4PM. Ali'i handles the renting of two beautifully renovated units - #606 and #306 - unfortunately they were spoken for when we booked 5 months in advance. Plan early - you will not be dissapointed!!
