“Great Hotel, Great Stay”

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

Jul 16, 2008

Just back from a 12 night stay at the Hyatt with my daughter. We loved the Hotel especially being able to nip downstairs for our Starbucks Coffee to start the day!! Staff extremely helpful and friendly however not in your face every minute of the day. I
notice that people on this forum have said the hotel is dated - we thought it kitsch - afterall its a hotel, escape from home, something different. We had pool view and could see the fireworks at Epcot and Wishes at MK over to the right of our room. Free shows nightly - fab.
Hyatt very clean in all public areas and toilets considering how busy the hotel was. We too experienced the Little Miss Pageant and the pushy mothers but rather than moan about not getting in the lifts (wasn't much room for us and the ballgowns!) we laughed about it.
Pool was as good as all the reviews. Location was tops.
The only think i would say I can criticise is eh NOTHING. Definately stay here again on next jolly to Florida and will be recommending to all family and friends. It is being fully refurbished this year so it will be even nicer!

My wife and I stayed here for three nights and absolutely loved it. The hotel is big but the service is so good it makes it seem smaller. The grounds are immense and sumptuous; the amenities plentiful and well cared for.

We stayed at the Regency Club level and that was a steal. For example, the breakfast was continental but included fresh raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, excellent Starbuck’s coffee, and an assortment of other goodies. In other words, they didn’t skimp. The service was friendly and attentive. We also sampled the 5-7 cocktail hour and it was completely up to snuff.

The room décor was very “Florida” and maybe just a little dated but the room was ample, well designed and immaculate with everything you needed. The A/C was the best I have encountered at a big hotel.

The only quibbles – the self-park lot was pretty full and far afield but we didn’t mind the walk and the spaces were large. They didn’t have umbrellas available so I got wet getting to and from the car on one occasion. You can valet park but it costs $20/night. The shuttle service was infrequent so we used our car.

All in all, a hotel which gets just about everything right. We will definitely stay there on any return visits to Orlando.

We have stayed here a few times and will go back again. The people are very helpful and the rooms which have two balconies are excellent with great views. The prices for meals at the restaurants in the hotel are off the charts. Very expensive so you may want to think about eating off the property. The pool area was super packed because it was a holiday weekend and we found a lot of debris at the bottom of the pool the two days we were there. Overall a good hotel.

“ok hotel”

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and were not that impressed. The hotel is very nice and big but for me this was a downside, with soo many guests you often had to wait a while to get the lift and the walk from your room to the self car park was quite far.
The facilities were great though , the pool was huge with 2 kids slides and compfy pool loungers ,their were paddle boats and kayaks and bikes to use free of charge and also the pitch n putt golf. The restaurants all looked very nice but posh and expensive. We had the breakfast buffet 1 morning which was lovely , a huge choice and nice surroundings but quite expensive too.
The rooms were clean and addequate but for the price of this hotel the room decor was a bit dated and the iron and hairdryer which are in the closet were old fashioned . The balcony was very small but enough to stand on. My good point about the rooms was the air conditioning was quiet which in past experiences is not always the case.
Overall a nice hotel but not the wow I was expecting for the price of it !

“Wow, what a pool!”

Our family of 4 stayed here June 24-July 1. The rooms were nicely furnished and the beds were very comfortable. The decor, particularly in the bathroom was a little dated, but livable. Housekeeping was okay, although I noticed some things they missed during our stay.

We stayed during the Little Miss pageant (must be an annual thing, as I read reviews that repeated some of the same problems from last year). There were problems with traffic flow & the elevators, the layout of the hotel is a little awkward during the frequent Florida rainstorms or various closures of the dining facilities for events, as the only way to the pool was through the lobby and several restaurants or a long winding path through the gardens.

My daughter did the horseback riding lesson - she loved it - probably the highlight of her trip! The grounds are beautiful and the pool is breathtaking - probably the best we have ever seen. The kids loved it and didn't want to leave. Although the hotel was fully booked, there were always comfortable chairs available under the umbrellas and there was more than ample space in the pool. Waterfalls, grottos, bridges, the gardens...it really was amazing. They also have a beach area with hammocks and chairs. Our room was pool view and we could see all the area fireworks at night.

The shuttle service was spotty and somewhat inconvenient. Its best to get a car to get you around if you stay here.

The food is expensive. The breakfast buffet is probably the best meal we had at the hotel.

Overall, we would stay at this hotel again, if only for the truly spectacular pool!
