We had connecting rooms for two families on the ground floor overlooking the fountain court in building 2. FQ is a small resort which means not much walking to your room after a long day at the parks. That was a blessing since we were tired and had two small children and some of the resorts are very large. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. The kids loved the pool but we only used it one evening. We were not at the hotel very much in the 5 days there. The food court was small but had a good selection. One evening we had a quick dinner there and the kids joined the Mardi Gras band parade around the food court for us to enjoy. We took the resort boat over to downtown disney one evening which was nice but we decided to take the bus transport back after eating and shopping. We didn't have very long waits for buses to the other parks. Sometimes we would stop to pick up Riverside resort and sometimes we were just on our way immediately. We had a stroller with us and it was never a problem to take it on the bus. I would stay here again in the future. :-)

“Peace away from the bustle”

As a family of 7 adults and 4 children with an age range from 5 years to 87 years our stay at Port Orleans French Quarter catered for us all. After the busy time spent in the parks it was so peaceful to return to this resort for a lazy spell around the pool. Although the British travel agent mixed up our booking this was sorted out by the reception staff quickly and efficiently. If I had to find a downside it would be the lack of choice in the dining hall as having stayed a fortnight we needed to go off site to eat on a regular basis to avoid the same food every day

“Not as Bad as They Say”

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

This hotel was adequate for the price you pay. It was clean, inside the room and out, and relatively quiet for a family resort (especially since I think we went during one of the most traveled weeks of the summer). The best thing about the resort is the pool. It has a slide that kids will love. Get out there early if you want to guarantee yourself a pool chair in a good location.
The service at the resort was very good, we had no issues. The place is also very picturesque and follows the New Orleans theme. We stayed in building 2 which was ideal, close to the pool, playground, lobby and food court. Some of the other buildings are quite far away.
They offer free buses to all of the theme parks as well as a ferry boat to the sister resort Riverside and Downtown Disney.
My biggest problem with this resort was the limited dining options. There is one food court that has a decent variety of things to eat but that is the only place to eat at the hotel. There are no restaurants.
We took a ride over to the Riverside which in my opinion is probably better than the French Quarter in every area except the pool. There are more dining options there and it is a bigger resort with a better arcade and store. But then again, it is only a quick ferry ride away. The FQ is nice in that it is the first stop for the buses to the theme parks so you know you will get on and get a seat. You are not guaranteed either at the other resorts.
Overall, the FQ is not bad at all considering it is one of Disney's moderate resorts.

“Loved the French Quarter!”

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

5 of 5 stars

We just returned from our Disney vacation and stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter. Our stay was excellent and the hotel staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. The hotel is situated right on the river that flows into the Downtown Disney area which we were able to explore from the Sea Racers we had rented.

The food court is very clean and offers a quick bite to eat if you are on your way back into parks for the evening. The hotel gift shop stocks much of the same gifts that the parks sell and the workers inside are extremely helpful.

The pool looked great, however it being the summer there were tons of little children all around and was not very welcoming for two adults. The shuttle service is slow, so be prepared to wait up to an hour to reach each of the parks. Also be mindful that if you have breakfast reservations early in the morning the bus service might not be running and you may need to have the bell services hail a taxi.

All in all our stay was great! The front desk even printed out our boarding passes for our return flight home and held all our luggage and carry-ons the day of our departure so that we could enjoy the park in the morning before our flight. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here again.

“The Port Orleans – French Quarter fills the need”

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

4 of 5 stars
Pleasanton, CA
Jul 1, 2008

Lets face it, at the end of the day all you want is a shower and a bed.
The Port Orleans – French Quarter fills that need just fine.
Family of 4 stayed here for one week. Room was clean, and house keeping kept it that way. We had a corner room but could here no noise from any of the neighbors so the soundproofing of these rooms is better than average.
Like all Disney properties, the grounds are immaculate, the cast friendly the food, so so.
The pools scene was good and never too crowded during our stay.
Laundry facilities onsite (though expensive $2.00 per load) came in very handy for us.

The downside, which could be an upside, is that there isn’t as much to do at French Qtr as there is at Riverside.
