We were on a family trip to Florida with my brothers, sister and dad and I wanted to treat my husband to one night on our own and chose the Ocean Key Resort. It was expensive but worth the money as we had a really relaxing time which was needed after the drive down! Our room had a great view out over the pool to the sunset so we could just sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down. We followed this by dinner at the Hot Tin roof restaurant where the food and service was great. If you are like me and suffer from heat rash the air con in the rooms was amazing to the point where my husband wanted to go to bed with all his clothes on whereas I just felt chilled. Obviously this was my choice of temperature so you don't have to be cold! For the final luxury we had room service breakfast on the balcony. Food was good and worth the cost and service quick. If you want one perfect night in the Keys then this is the place to go and as I said everything looked exactly like it does on their website.

“A Tip Top place to stay”

Ocean Key Resort & Spa

Stayed here for 3 nights from 16th June 08 booked via Virgin Flydrive.

This is a 1st class hotel in a location that can not be bettered.

First of all the staff are polite and helpful in the extreme, if you are from the UK and used to rude and unhelpful service this takes time to get used to, in that you do wonder how genuine the staff are, the simple fact is they are genuinely nice.

The rooms are lovely, clean and up-to date with TV, coffee, our room was standard , but in the UK would have been superior, four poster bed, Jacuzzi bath / shower and lovely view. The mini bar unlike other hotels is reasonably priced so we used it.

Food in the hotel and bar is good and reasonably priced also, but for variety it is near some top notch restaurants all within 5 minuets walk.

The hotel is on the harbor front directly next to Malory Sq and Duvall St the main hubs of life in Key West.

If you have chosen this hotel then relax because you have made a good choice, if your thinking of booking then I would highly recommend it.

“Great Stay! Wonderful Staff!”

We just returned from a weekend stay at this beautiful hotel and had a wonderful time. We had a 5th floor ocean view room that looked over the Pier, Marina and Sunset. You couldn't get a room any closer to the water. It was beautiful.
The room had a 2 televisions (one a flat screen), a big king size bed (one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in) and a nice indoor sitting area with a couch and chair. It also had French doors that opened to a nice sitting area on the balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The bathroom was huge. It has 2 sinks, dressing table and a closet. The bathtub/ shower was also a Jacuzzi and overlooked the bedroom (see pictures). All very nicely decorated.
Maid service was always prompt and efficient and turndown service was a nice touch. On a side note the toiletries we really nice - much nicer than what I find in other hotels.
We ordered room service one morning and it was quick and the food was good. They set it up on the balcony, white table cloth and all. They also brought up a newspaper with it.
We used the valet several times and never waited more than a few minutes for our car. The hotel staff was great and we were always greeted with a smile whether we were coming or going. They were all very cheerful and greeting guest seemed to be the norm. Very nice touch.
Its easy to see why this hotel is so highly ranked on this site and others. It is easy to recommend this hotel to anyone. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I hope to do so again.

“A Top-Notch Resort!”

Ocean Key Resort & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Philadelphia

My girlfriend and I just returned from an exceptional 3-night stay at the Ocean Key. We both had a tough time leaving! Upon arrival we were taken to our room by a very polite and knowledgeable bellboy (note: a Key West bellboy entails shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and "right on" affirmations) that described all the hotel amenities and local recommendations.

Our room was very spacious & bright but still had a homey feel to it. The bed was extremely comfortable (we opted for the King) and the balcony provided privacy with relaxed seating. We were also intrigued by the shower, which offers a glass pane to see thru (with the option to close off with sliding closet doors). The bathroom is also nice with his & her's sinks but the toilet is not seperate from the main bathroom (no door). In the living space there is a separate couch and chairs in front a large flat-screen TV (there's a 2nd smaller TV in the closet in front of the bed). The closet & drawer space was somewhat limited but ample.

But what's best about the Ocean Key is the LOCATION! Our room looked right down onto Mallory Square with a tiny view of the ocean. It's the first address on Duval St. and is seconds away from the hot spots (we recommend Irish Kevin's for a good crowd with humor, RICK's upstairs for a younger dance crowd, Sloppy Joe's for live music and sports). The pool also looks out onto the ocean and is absolutely gorgeous. I had read some reviews that it could get packed but we experienced no such crowds (a few scattered couples relaxing). There was one cruise ship on Tuesday morning which did limit the view and really flood the town with fanny-pack wearing tourists - I would call and see when cruise ships come in to try and avoid those days as much as possible. We also rented a scooter RIGHT across the street from the main entrance.

The grounds at Ocean Key are kept in pristine shape and all the greenery looks really lush. We hardly saw any of the groundscrew and the ones that we did encounter were very polite internationals. We had an issue with our billing which was taking care of very quickly and politely and they gladly held our luggage until it was time to fly out.

The only MINOR issue we had was one night when some loud (and presumably drunk) people in the room next to us were carrying on and we couldn't sleep (1:30AMish). They said security would take care of it (I believe they called their room but didn't actually come up). Needless to say, the walls are pretty thin and we could hear every word being said.

It was a bit pricey (avg. $315/night) but well worth it for accomodations and location. I would recommend the Ocean Key to anyone visiting Key West for the 1st or 1000th time.

“Loved the Ocean Key!”

Ocean Key Resort & Spa

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this fantastic hotel. It is in the most perfect spot in KW. The staff are all 1st class - nothing is too much trouble for them. The reception area smells absolutely lovely from the spa - sort of coconutty!!

We were allocated a room overlooking Mallory Square on arrival and asked if we could be moved to a room with an ocean view? Within 20 mins they had upgraded us to a lovely suite with a huge balcony on the front of the building with views over the ocean and on the corner of Duval (right above where the glass bottom boat leaves from).

The suite had a huge lounge with massive flat screen tv, lots of furniture inc a dining table and french doors out to the balcony. We had a seperate kingsize bedroom with a really good/deep jacuzzi in the corner and french doors out to the balcony. There was also a 2nd tv. There was a dressing area with twin washbasins and dressing table. And finally a shower-room with lovely toiletries.

The pool and sundeck area are fantastic and the perfect place to watch the sunset. A lot less crowded than Mallory sq. We actually sat in the outdoor spa one night and it was very relaxing. The waitress service by the pool was also 1st class.

Sunset Pier was great, but very busy. The Hot Tin Roof restaurant (outside) for breakfast was very good and the view has to be the best in KW!!

When I return to KW I know where I will be staying!
