“Nicer than average Courtyard”

Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

May 29, 2008

I usually hate Courtyards, but this one was a nice surprise. At check in, I was upgraded to a decent suite. The decor was upscale and even on the trendy side. There is even a restaurant open for all meals and for Room Service.
Hotel rooms have cheap furnishings and the bathrooms are cheesy. I'll never understand why Marriott has such shallow bathtubs!
Still, it's a great location and a much better value than your average Courtyard. Great bet for business travel.

“AVOID this hotel”

I was booked in here by my corporate travel agent. I stay at Courtyards a lot and usually very reliable. The location is good with respect to freeways.

But I have to tell you the highway noise was amazingly loud. I couldn't sleep even after pulling both sets of drapes and making sure the doors were closed properly.

I read the other reviews and they must be by employees of the hotel as they are a joke. Even though the hotel was obviously redone at some point they left the old doors that allow noise and wind right through.

Also I couldn't get the allegedly free internet to work despite calling the vendor.. Sorry I woudl stay away unless you plan to up partying all night and don't need to sleep

“Love Highway Noise and listening to your neighbors this is your Hotel”

Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

Apr 11, 2008

This is a very old Holiday Inn reflagged at a Courtyard although you can't find it on the Marriot Website oddly.

It's not really in Sherman Oaks, its on the wrong side of the tracks so to speak and isolated from restaurants.

Although they did a moderate rehab a few years ago the age shines through with thin walls and amazingly loud highway noise even if you are on the back side.

I would never consider staying here again.

“A higher level Courtyard - very good!”

Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

5 of 5 stars
Boston, MA

Both room quality and service at this "Courtyard" were of the quality that I would expect from a higher level Marriott hotel. We were visiting family in Sherman Oaks, so the location was key for us, but I would consider staying here too as a mid-point with good driving access to both Malibu and LA. I selected this hotel based on prior reviews and I found them right on the mark. The hotel is very close to the 405. While our view was of the highway, it's far enough so that noise was not a problem. The fitness room is small, but adequate with 2 treadmills, an elliptical, rowing machine, weights and one TV. The outdoor pool on the 4th floor is in a pleasant, quiet location.

“Great hotel!”

Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley

Mar 19, 2008

We happened upon this hotel by driving through Sherman Oaks. It was about 7:00 pm, and my husband, 18 year old son and I had been driving all day from Santa Barbara. We saw this hotel, pulled in and got a room.

Beautifully decorated hotel. Our room was large, with 2 queen beds, wireless internet, nice bedding, flat screen tv. Very clean and up to date.

We went to the front desk to see about where we should go for dinner. They were VERY helpful. We said we wanted Italian food, and the clerk recommended a place, then proceeded to make a reservation there for us. The restaurant she recommended was excellent!

There were 3 computers with printer in the lobby that were available for guests to use.

We had breakfast in the cafe in the hotel, which was average.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. It was perfect for a quick stay, and I would definetely return!
