We just spent 4 nights at LWS and we can't say this clearly enough: this is a place to relax. The premises are squeaky-clean (though not opulent), the mineral water is very special, and hosts Jeff and Judy set a warm and comfortable tone.

Massage is a centerpiece of the place. I had two terrific sessions, and my wife splurged on two of their "Massage a Trois" specials: two therapists working on you at once! She swears she's never had better.

If you're looking for a "naked party zone" place, this isn't it. If you want peace and quiet, a nice mountain view, and that great sunny desert air--and you'd rather not have to wear a swimsuit-- stay at Living Waters Spa.

Desert Hot Springs itself is VERY low key. If you feel the need to put your clothes on and go out, there are a few good places to eat in town (if you like steak, don't miss the Capri) and many more a short drive away in Palm Springs.

I’m writing this on the day my wife and I retuned from the resort and I’m in awe from the wonderful hospitality Jeff and Judy presented to us and the other guests. My wife is 6 months pregnant and this trip to Living Waters was absolutely, hands down, the most relaxing trip so far. I have to hype up Jeff and Judy because their interaction and friendliness towards ALL their guests reflect the difference between a good spa and an exceptional spa. For them to take the time to talk to each guest and get to know them on a personal level epitomizes the true nature of family and that’s how we felt when we left. OK, here’s the benefits of Living Waters Spa coming from a couple that have never been to another clothing optional place before.

1.Courteous service from the staff (Thanks Jeff and Judy)
2.Courteous and VERY friendly guests (the frequent guest are wonderful)
3.The warm and relaxing mineral water (our skin thanks you)
4.Be all natural in a place where it is accepted and honored (thanks for the pictures)
5.The 3 O’Clock social hour to exchange stories (we remember a few of the ingredients)
6.And the biggest benefit of all – peace and relaxation as never before (we envy your job)

From us to anyone might be questioning whether or not to go, DO IT! Thanks for the great time and we’ll send pictures. See you soon!

“We're hooked!”

Just returned from our third trip to this wonderful place. Living Waters was our first trip to a clothing-optional resort. Going was my wife's idea (no, really!), and I was a bit nervous, but owners Jeff and Judy put us right at ease. (Walking into the office and seeing Judy doing regular office stuff -- opening mail, typing on the computer -- while wearing just her birthday suit definitely sets the tone!)

There's no pressure to go "natural" and several patrons do wear bathing suits or parts thereof. I decided to go with the flow, and while it felt strange at first, it wasn't long before I felt completely at ease. One unexpected benefit: Visiting LWS has helped me get over my body issues. Who knew going on vacation could build self-esteem?

My wife and I often chat with our fellow guests and have never felt even the slightest bit awkward; everyone we've met is on the up-and-up and comes just to enjoy the freedom that clothing-optional places provide. It's just like any other resort, except most of the guests (and the owners) just happen to be nude. Some guests are social, others choose a quiet area and keep to themselves, and everyone respects that. (I should add that LWS is a small place; I don't think I've ever seen more than a dozen or a dozen and a half guests during the day, and much less than that at nights and on weekdays.)

To sum it up, we hadn't even finished our first stay when we booked our second trip. I now look forward to visiting Living Waters as a place to truly relax and unwind. We get a room with a kitchen and bring food so we don't have to leave (there's nothing more depressing than getting dressed after a day of clothing-free swimming and sunning!). The whole place is eat-off-the-floor immaculate, and reliable, fast wi-fi means I can bring my laptop and get work done, which gives us an excuse to stretch our stays even longer. If I could spend every weekend there, I probably would.

“Keep returning for the rest”

Our visit this time was from May 9th - May 13th, 2008. I guess you would call us regulars even though we live a very great distance away in Canada, and the trip there is long. We have been there around 6 or 7 times, twice a year in the spring and fall.

We travel extensively, and try to fit in a weekend here as often as we can. We enjoy it for many reasons. Our main draw is the quiet, sunshine, and meeting other interesting folks our ages. Chatting in the hot tub in the evening is a pleasure. Living in a textile free place is very pleasant, and we always hate to get dressed again when we leave. The natural waters are great. The hot tub is covered by an open roof which provides shade during the very hot and bright days. The afternoon snack there is great, even though we have still not been able to guess the last secret ingredient. Quiet new age music plays in the background.

We consider the owners family. Great folks.

We have only been to one other clothing optional place, in Palm Springs, and find Living Waters more of a rest, although we like to include both in the same trip, ending at Living Waters, to leave the Palm Springs area on a high note.

Desert Hot Springs is not that exciting a place as has been mentioned, but that really does not affect us. We enter the property and stay. Shopping and restaurants we do before we get there. Make sure you have some pizza from Rockys, it is good.

There is only one place that smoking is allowed on the property, a table at the back, although we would prefer it to be on the other side of the wall, as all it takes is one person to stink up the area. Unfortunately we have to tolerate that.

We had our first clothing optional experience here and it worked well.
