My fiancée and I had been enjoying the quaint town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas during spring break “08”. What a great getaway visiting from Missouri! Eureka Springs became even more beautiful when we were surprised to come across a little rock cottage village lined with daffodils, pussy willows, and birds singing in all the trees around. We felt like we had just found a little bit of heaven on earth as we walked the grounds. We had been to Spain the summer before and Destin, Florida during Thanksgiving and now our springtime run away was beautifully blessed.
We had talked about getting married for about 11 years and on that day, March 22, 2008 as we explored the Rock Cottage Gardens, the longest standing motor lodge in Eureka Springs, we were met by a strong dose of southern comfort and that means words spoken by the inn keepers, “We are honored to have you here.” A hearty, kind, and beautiful welcome was what we met on that spring afternoon and we knew we wanted to be married there if there was room at the inn.
A couple had traveled from New York for a stay at the Rock Cottage Gardens and unexpectedly, they had to return early. Destiny would show itself with a perchance occupancy and we were married conveniently that afternoon by Mike, the innkeeper along with Deb his wife present, the most gracious hosts I have ever come across. With them as our witnesses, we were able to complete our dream of marriage and the spiritual moments surrounding the ceremony was tremendous. They ordered our flowers for the wedding and the chapel was beautiful.
In our little cottage #5, we were greeted with homemade cookies, fresh cut flowers, and beauty at every glance. That evening, Mike and Deb left a fire in the chimenea in the side yard next to our cottage after a romantic Italian dinner in a nearby restaurant located in a Victorian house recommended by them. The next morning we were served the most delectable breakfast in the main house prepared by Deb that I would award as 5 Star! In every place we walked or sat in our cottage, grounds, or dining room, we were met with pleasing views and comfort. We will be returning for more romantic pampering in the future.
