“Grand Old Lady needs some TLC”

Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa

We arrived from Anchorage Alaska in 113 degree heat. Our room was not ready untill one hour after check in time. The grounds are beautiful but directions to our room were vauge and we wandered around untill we found it. The shower door was broken and nobody ever did come to repair it. Resort fee? What did I get for this, ice water at the pool. Nine pools? As far as I could tell only 2 were usable by anyone. TV was pathetic 27". Even Best Western has flat panels. Hotel and grounds were top notch. By the end of our stay I really fell in love with the place, but am glad I only paid off season prices. It was a great experience to stay in a clasic resort, but I will not be returning. The room was nothing as pictured and we had the best available other than a cottage. Staff was great. Its sad that this place may fold if not updated and competitivly priced.

“Nice Grounds but Pathetic Service Standards”

Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa

1 of 5 stars
San Francisco, California

Perspective from a very frequent business traveler who is also a member of the highest tier in this hotel chain's frequent stay program.

GOOD:
The grounds are nicely manicured and the original Frank Lloyd Wright buildings are iconic. Service at The Biltmore Grill is good. Upgraded king room is spacious.

BAD:
The pathetic service starts upon arrival. The Valet/Bell Desk will not offer to help with your luggage. The Front Desk will give you keys that don't work, causing you to return to get keys that do. It'll be a 5 minute walk to your room in the summer 100+ degree temperatures. The clock radio will be broken. The coffee maker you request (there are none in the room) will be delivered with a used filter and coffee grounds in it. Housekeeping will wake you by banging on your door at 7:00 am and will call twice when you don't answer. The fitness center will start turning off the lights and the TVs 30 minutes before closing (8:30) even though you're working out. You'll be told there are no umbrellas to borrow when the lightning storm comes. Upgraded king room bathroom is shabby and the shower very small. Food at The Biltmore Grill is over priced for the small portions. In room safe is not large enough for a small laptop.

RECOMMENDATION: If you want to experience the Arizona Biltmore, just visit for a meal or a drink, but stay at any of the following: Royal Palms, The Phoenician, Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Sanctuary on Camelback, The Boulders, Westin Kierland, Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons Scottsdale.

    • Disliked — The service and the poor staff attitude.

“A great setting, great architecture, failing on some details”

Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa

4 of 5 stars
Columbus, Ohio

The hotel's claim to fame is its’ architecture, being done in the prairie style of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the hotel remains true to that vision. If you like Wright's work (and I do) there is plenty of eye candy for you to look at

Check in: Easy, went well, no issue

Parking: We used the valet...tho they did charge $25/day for parking which I thought was rough.

Food Bar: I did not eat at the hotel. The bar was good, staff friendly and of course, the drinks were overpriced.

Room: Neat, well kept, clean, and remained true to the theme of the the hotel. I also liked the showers.

Now for the complaint; the resort has several pools...the main pool was, in a word, filthy. The water was so cloudy that one could not see the bottom of the pool. There were several contributing factors to this. First, it had rained, and I was told by the hotel staff, rain water tends to overwhelm the pool's sanitation system. Secondly, there is a swim up bar which serves food, not a great idea if you want to keep your pool clean, and finally, the pool was really crowded.

Aside from the cloudy water, I noted some refuse in the pool as well.

Aside from the pool problem (which I am sure could be fixed with a little attention) the place is great. Good setting, nice staff, etc.

Oh! One more thing, the concierge service was fantastic; helpful, nice people who really seemed to care.
