We booked through the hotel website - they offer a best price guarrantee, and had an extra large room, which was in fact massive, we stayed for six nights.
The hotel is still not fully open, there is no restaurant, no room serivce, no bar, no theatre, no rooftop BBQ.
What is open is the rooms, reception and the breakfast room on the roof.
If you dont mind that most of the facilities arent there yet (June 2008) then what is there is excellent, the rooms are lovely, nice art deco theme, good lighting, excellent bathroom (though a little short on hot water) good sheets, big work table, couch, wifi and a mini bar.
Reception was very friendly and helpful with good restaurant recommendations.
In lieu of room service reception offered a takeaway menu from a local pizza place - without a doubt it was the worst meal i have had in BA. The breakfast was not much better, a gaggle of staff eating and chatting and paying no attention to the diners, and a very very basic breakfast, just half filled bowls of cereal, toast, yoghurt and few pastries. no fruit no eggs, a very basic breakfast considering the price of the hotel.
over all we would stay there again, because the rooms are nice and the location is great - but we will wait till the place is fully open!

My partner and I are extremely happy that we stayed in this hotel.
Location is great, not right in San Telmo which is actually good, it is only 10 min. away from Casa Rosada and 15 min. from Puerto Madero.
The Hotel is spotless, both common areas and rooms, even the whole place has a fantastic smell...
We stayed in 2 different rooms: standard and Junior Loft, both were amazing, specially the Loft of course, they are huge, nice decorated and had big bathrooms.
I must say that I dont recomend a room in a high floor as the lift is very noisy although will be ok in lower floors.
Staff is very good, both at reception and porters, always willing to help and giving you a smile.
The only negative point is that they dont have a restaurant although they are about to open one and also a theater, (I saw pics and they look very nice).
Breakfast is served in a roof terrace with nice views but I must say that the breakfast is very basic. Unless you go to a big chain hotel of the kind of Hilton, Four Seasons, Sheraton, etc. the breakfast is always basic in the rest of hotels in Argentina.
I will definetly come back to Moreno Hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting BA.

“Large rooms, good location, pleasant staff”

Just returned from a two night stay at The Moreno Hotel. Enjoyed the spaciousness of an extra, extra large room. The location provides easy access to Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo and Puerto Madero. Wi fi was free and reasonably solid. Breakfast was pastries, breads, and cereals. Mini bar provided Quilmes beer, soda and water at very reasonable prices. TV had over 50 channels but does not have an English-language news channel.

Stayed on the 5th floor and there were times when the elevator noise proved somewhat bothersome.

    • Liked — Large rooms, good value, free wi fi
    • Disliked — Elevator noise, lack of English-language news and sports TV channels

“Impressise, ultra-modern boutique hotel”

Moreno Hotel Buenos Aires

5 of 5 stars
U.S.A.
May 18, 2008

Old meets new in this art deco, ultra-modern hotel in the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires. One would be hard pressed to guess that a hotel is actually located in an unobtrusive, old building that has an elongated entrance that resembles a corridor in a commercial building, manual wrought iron gated elevators and stained glass windows. However, once you arrive at the reception area on the second floor and subsequently enter your room, it becomes apparent that this hotel is unique and special.

We found the location to be ideal. It is very convenient to the restaurants, galleries, and tango halls of San Telmo, easy walking distance to the subway stations, Florida Street, Puerto Madero, and the Obelisk, and points beyond are accessible by a short and reasonably priced cab ride. The rooms are huge, with high ceilings, large windows, a sitting area, wet bar, and many amenities such as an LCD television, portable telephone, in-room safe, bidet, daily newspaper, and ample drawer and closet space. There is also a computer in the lobby area with hi-speed internet access. Housekeeping is effecieint and was always completed in a timely manner. Contrary to some reviews, we found the room/hotel to be very quiet and never had our sleep disturbed. The beds are large and very comfortable.

Breakfast is served on the seventh floor and is basic and somewhat limited. It consists of coffee/tea, juice, croissants/toast, cold cereals, yogurt and a small selection of fruit. On several days, cold ham and cheese slices were available. Although not elaborate, breakfast was nevertheless satisfying and got you off to a good start in the morning.

One of the big pluses of this hotel is its professional, courteous, helpful and gracious staff. They are all bi-lingual and very eager to assist you in any manner possible - be it recommending a restaurant, providing directions, arranging tours or transportation, or just making your stay more comfortable. Staff can't seem to do enough to ensure that you have a pleasant and enjoyable stay at their hotel and a positive experience in Buenos Aires. You are treated more as a friend or family member rather than a hotel guest. The only minor problem we encountered was during check-out when several inadvertent charges from the mini-bar appeared on our bill. However, the receptionist quickly adjusted and credited our account.

Don't let the San Telmo area prevent you from staying at this wonderful boutique hotel. Although a few guidebooks describe the area as somewhat risky and unsafe, we never encountered any problems, even when returning late at night from restaurants or tango shows. Obviously, just like any large city, exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings.

We thouroughly enjoyed the Moreno Hotel and had a great time in Buenos Aires. I highly recommend the Moreno and will definitely stay with them again for future trips to Buenos Aires.

“Best hotel in Buenos Aires”

Moreno Hotel Buenos Aires

Apr 22, 2008

For a long weekend in Buenos Aires, I don't think we could have done any better. This brand new hotel is beautifully designed, the staff speak English and are warm and friendly, free WiFi in the rooms, and our room was BIG and comfortable. We've been to BA lots of times and stayed in several hotels, and this one is our favorite by far. The location is superb - on Sunday it's a short walk through San Telmo to the street fair, meanwhile you can easily walk to Florida, Casa Rosada, etc, for the touristy must-see spots. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time, and will definitely return!
