Having returned from 2 weeks at Domina Coral Bay I must say that we had originally booked for The Sutans Pool but I had telephoned them a few days before when I realized it was on a very steep hill and due to my walking disabilty I was a bit concerned. Also it was my husbands 60th, our wedding anniversary and my birthday the day we flew home and I did not want it spoiled by having to be confined to one place.
When we arrived we were given a room upgrade ( not package ) to the Prestige. What a wonderful surprize. The room was spacious, drapes round the bed, tea, coffee making facilities, large shower with jets ( some of the larger rooms had jaqusie baths ), spacious balcony with lattice shutters.
The pool which was just outside our room was magnificent and never packed with people, wonderful sun beds, padded and fresh towels everytime you left your sun bed and came back. Thanks to Fouzie the lifeguard, he was superb.
The only downfall was that although the room guys were very nice and did a wonderful display on the bed for our anniversary, the room could have been a bit cleaner, we also had to ask for more coffee and tea frequently
Sounds strange but a pair of my husbands trousers went missing from the room also my ipod. First thing you think of is did I really have them in the first place, till you get home and they are not in the house.
USE THE SAFE.
The complex is that big you use Taff Taffs (little buses) to get round and are very frequent. I would think in high season though you would have a job getting on them. Prestige provides golf carts that will take you where you want to go. To hire them it is 17euro per day..
As we were all inclusive we were limited for eating to 4 eating places. Much of the sameness after a few days. Wine and beer with meals or other drinks at the Wadi at the beach. 1 bar at night, yes 1 bar. That was at the Sultan. It has about 15 tables out and10 in. That closes 12 Domina time ( dont ask ) its actually 11pm in normal time....... They tell you Domina time is 1 hour ahead of Cairo because to get more sun in the morning. RUBBISH. its because 80 per cent of guests are Russian and they dont have to change their watches. Drinks at other bars VERY expensive. Vodka and coke 15GBP
By your cigs and tobacco at the airport. Stuff in Naama Bay is either fake or dried up. Its only about 1 BP more. Before you get in a taxi make sure you get a price in EGYPTIAN pounds. If you dont specify they will get you to the other end and tell you no it is in British. Some of them get quite nasty and although we didnt experiance it we heard of people being left in the middle of nowhere because of it.
The staff in Domina we found to be very pleasant and some went out of there way to make you welcome and expected nothing in return. Trips we found were quite expensive if you wanted to go further a-feild. In Naama Bay a trip to Jordan for 1 day. 170 GBP. plus visas for Jordan plus Visas to get back into Egypt ( even if you already purchased them at the start of your holiday ).
Dont even think of taking the coach trip to Cairo. It takes 6-8 hours to get there, flying visit, then the same back.. All in one day.
It is not recomended for the frail, old or infirm.
