I normally don't write any reviews however as I make heavily use of the reviews on Tripadvisor to select where I'm staying I should of course post my own.
If you are going to Sharm El Sheihk for diving then Camel Dive Club should be at the very top on your list of places to stay.
I was pleasantly surprised of how well organised the diving centre was.
When I arrived in the afternoon I placed my diving equipment in a box in the diving centre and the next morning the box with the oxygen bottles had been transported to the boat so I didn’t have to carry or do anything.
There are a number of different boats that Camel Dive uses depending on which diving site you are going to and should you go on a different boat the next day they will take care of this and make sure that all your stuff is on the right boat – you just have to shown up in the morning, that’s it.
For the instructors/staff at Camel it was my clear impression that all of them were of a very high standard – my instructor, Kostas, certainly was.
Camel hotel is located more or less in the centre of the town along a promenade. What it’s really nice is their popular roof top bar where you can sit in the evening and enjoy a few drinks under the stars – very nice.
It was my first time in Sharm and used ThomsonFly to get there.
If you are only staying in Sharm then you don’t have to paid for the visa. As soon as we came through the gates they were calling all passengers over to form a queue at the visa desk – I guess they want to make money out of all the tourist regardless if they need a visa or not.
Just walk straight up to the passport control and go through.
(if you need local currency then there is a ATM just as you come in to the terminal – it’s the only one, there are no ATMs once you have gone through passport control)
With taxis I found that booking the taxi via Camel is by far the best option - I came and had to stand and haggle with the drivers and ended up paying the same price as I paid for the return taxi arranged by Camel, but the advantage with the Camel transfer is that it's directly to/from the hotel - otherwise you have to make you own way out of the closed hotel zone and up to the taxi ranks
I had a great time there and I will definitely be back.
