“amazing hotel and holiday”

Radisson SAS Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Jun 5, 2008

we went to sharm el sheikh for our honeymoon and it was the best experience ever. the hotel and resort were truely amazing and all the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly...the breakfast buffet in the mornings were fit for a king, so much variety and good food. my husbands not one for waking up in the mornings but he used to wake up for the grand breakfast. theres lots to do and its easy to book excursions... its worth going into the red sea to see the wonderful fish and coral either in the submarine or if u can, go diving. theres a fab bedouin tent on the resort where you can go for egyptian tea and to smoke shisha in the evenings..they have entertainment aswell such as belly dancing and camel rides. we really enjoyed chilling out in there in the evenings. theres about five pools on the resort and plenty of space to sunbathe....the gardens are gorgeous with all sorts of aloe vera plants, flowers and waterfalls...
.. i would reccomend this hotel to anyone going to sharm it was a great holiday and honeymoon.

“Brilliant holiday!”

Radisson SAS Resort Sharm El Sheikh

Just returned last week from a week in the radisson sas.
It cost us €520 for the week which was pretty good, B&B. When we arrived we were offered to upgrade our room for €250 for the week, we asked what this included and the staff told us it was free shuttle bus to naama bay, 25% discount in some of the restaurant, fruit basket and a few others. We didnt bother upgrading and were glad when we saw our room as it was lovely! The room was big and spacious, we were on the ground floor and I was hoping we wouldnt be just in case insects or anything got in but it was perfect for the whole trip! The whole room was lovely and clean, we had two biggish single beds instead of a double, but everything else was fine. There is mini bar with cans of pepsi, orange etc and crisps and chocolate! Also the bathroom was big and clean! We could see the main pool from our balcony and it was a 2min walk to the pool.

The hotel itself is amazing, the grounds are lovely as are the pools and beach. Spent most of our time at the main pool as we were right beside it, and went to the beach once or twice but never actually got into the sea. The pools are great as they are never crowded, although it can be very hard to get a sunbed if youre not up early!

The food in the hotel was lovely, we ate at the pizza place (Il Grotto i think!) a few times and the food was gorgeous! We also ate at the italian twice, once for a grill where they cook the food in front of you, it was lovely there as well. Dont be put off by the fact that the restaurants are usually quiet and empty as the place is so big and I think alot of people ate at the buffet restaurant which we didnt actually try at all. At the end of our stay our bill came to about €250 altogether which we thought was great after all the lunch, dinners, room service and mini bar snacking! :) The only thing is we didnt have any alcohol in the hotel and this is supposed to be fairly expensive!

The staff were lovely, and helpeful and the room was always cleaned perfectly along with the little artistic piece they add to it by making swans out of the duvet covers!! :) The only thing that could be off putting is the people who work in the health club constantly coming around asking do you want to book in for a massage, the same guy used to come up to us every day! Other than that they are nice and polite.

We went down to naama bay on the friday we arrived for a 'pub crawl'. 2 of the bars were ok but then we were brought to TGIs and Hard rock cafe, HRC add about a 10% service charge and also a sales tax so it cost approx €22 for 2 cocktails!! It is very commercialised down there with pizza hut, mcdnalds etc. Also its about 40mins from the radisson, i was under the impression it was 5! We went down anoter day from10pm - 12am, i wasnt really into it as there is not much to do but go around shops were you are hassled to buy things and the owners follow you around!

We only did one excursion when we were there, the trip to cairo. It cost us approx €220 each for the day. This involved being collected at the hotel at 4.20am, getting a flight from sharm el sheikh to cairo aiport. We then went on a coach (with broken airconditioning!) to the egyptian museum which was interesting enough. Then lunch at around 11am in the hard rock cafe. Very disapointing as its a buffet lunch and there isnt much choice especially if you are a picky eater and also considering the long day thats in it! After that its about another hour to the pyramids of giza. This was great to see but our tour guide had to warn us before we got off the bus to keep away from anyone selling souveniers etc. Everyone just wants money so they ask you do you want to take photos of them on their camels or do you want them to take a phto of you, but they want money for it all! Also if they try help you up some steps they want money! We went into a pyramid which wasnt anything amazing but worth going in considering you can and its only about €3! just dont take the torch from the little egyptian man in there as again he will want money!! We were then brough up the road abit to a viewing spot and were allowed 10mins to taeke photos. After 5 we got back on our bus as the locals hassle you so much! Then we saw the sphinx, which is again great to see and some great photo opportunities but the same idea! After that we were btrouhgt to a big souvenier shop and a papyrus "factory" where you can buy souveniers. We arrived back at the hotel at 9pm so its a long day! personally i think its very overpriced considering, but then again you are on holidays and i dont think you can go to egypt without seeing the pyramids unless of course you've been there before! we chose the flight to cairo instead of the bus as altho its a lot cheaper its about a 6 and a half hr journey each way! Antother couple we met also did the bedouin experience which they said was good and they said scuba diving is amazing. Others went to uxor which is also supposed to be great but we were more looking for a relaxin hol so we didnt go!

Over all its a great place to go, if youre looking for a nice relaxing hol there is no need to even step outside the hotel! I was slightly put off by the way some of the locals drag you into shops but this can all be easily avoided and also it is expected in most countries. I wouldnt really recommend it for a mad holiday as i didnt really see anywhere that would be good for nightlife! id definitely go back!

“Fantastic Hotel-great package holiday”

Radisson SAS Resort Sharm El Sheikh

This was my 2nd visit to the radisson sas, and obviously theres a reason we went back again!!

Firstly, your not going to find a hotel like this anywhere for the money we paid about 670€ each. On arrival, we upgraded to the marine room on the beach, (€150) there much bigger, clean and steps away from the amazing beach and pools. Plus, breakfast in bed every morning free!
As you can see from the pictures, the pools are amazing, the staff are really helpful and professional, the resort is immaculate. When i read the bad reviews, i think are these people used to staying in a 7 star or similar? Seriously, this hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway, mature couples, & famililies.

& the food......

ok its not gourmet cuisine BUT its egypt, and its very edible, Eat in Olivos in the evening-pizza at lunch is as good as any pizza in Ireland! Cost for eating for the week €250 (for 2)

Evening...

Naama Bay is a dump. Hard Rock Cafe-ripoff but good atmosphere. Tgi Fridays also. We went to an English pub called the Tavern to watch the rugby-absolute kip. Stick with the resort food wise.

“best package holiday imaginable”

Radisson SAS Resort Sharm El Sheikh

i just returned from a week in the radisson in sharm yesterday and i have never felt so obliged to write a review before. It was the most amazing holiday i have had to date. the setting itself is stunning but the satff at the hotel and the amazing people we met along the way were the real dealbreaker. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. i have read lots of reviews saying that there is no sincerity amongst the staff you meet daily and they just expect tips, yes they expect tips but you must remember that they rely fully on these tips and their wages are so poor. relative to our currency it is a very small ammount of money and you should do what you can to tip no matter how small. We had the best holiday and i have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody you will be blown away by the hospitality and the settings. I am definately going back there again. If you do go it would be a crime not to go snorkelling and you should also do the srabian nights trip. I also think it is importat to go there with the right attitude and to be courteous and kind to everybody you meet you get the same respect back in abundance.

My partner and I have just returned from two weeks at the Radisson and we had an excellent time. I was very impressed with the hotel, which in our experience was clean and well maintained. The gardens, beach and pool areas were lovely and looked just like the photos we had seen on the website. Our room was very spacious and cleaned well every day by very attentive staff. We were B&B and I felt breakfast was good, as far as mass catering goes. There was certainly a lot of choice. We felt very looked after during our stay with everything that we wanted - we even forgot to pack our beach towels but were pleased to find we didnt need them as clean beach towels were provided by the hotel each day. The staff in general seemed very eager to help - useful when it came to trying to find a spare sun lounger!

On the down side I felt certain things in the hotel were over priced, such as even basic soft drinks like mineral water (£1.60) and coke (£1.50 for a can). However, this didnt matter too much as there is a supermarket opposite where you could buy large bottles of water for 35p. The restaurants in the hotel were also over priced, and although the food was good it was nothing special. The Italian/Pizzaria was the only one realistically priced. We went in to naama bay several times which was within easy reach in a taxi - however I would recommend using the hotels own taxi's which are a fixed price so no haggling needed. We tended not to as they were slightly more expensive than the ones you could hail yourself. However, we were caught out on our last night by a con-man taxi driver who claimed we had given him less money than we had and became aggressive - we ended up losing about 30 quid on what should have been a five quid journey . Not a huge amount but it was the principle.

All in all we had a great holiday and I would definately recommend the hotel. It was out of the main, busy area of naama bay, but that suited us just fine for two weeks of relaxation and peace!
