My wife and I spent two days here in May 2008. The hotel is good, but not great. Check in/out was about average, and service was OK but not teriffic. The room on the 9 th floor was average sized. King bed (comfortable), two chairs, small table, glass desk with comfortable chair. Floor to ceiling windows (nice in a corner room) with a great view of the creek. Very clean. If you like the modern style, you'll be in heaven. Lots of wood and glass (even the desk). "Old" tube style TV with a good selection of channels and, naturally, lots of options (for a price). Given the decor, the hotel needs to update to flat screen LED or plasmas. Small bathroom with shower (no tub); OK. Not a lot close to the hotel, but no problems getting a taxi. The roof pool is small, but adequate. Good service at the bar, and a great view of Dubai. There are about 12 loungers with umbrellas. Ate in the lobby bar and room service; food was good and service acceptable.
There is high speed and wireless internet available, for a price: 100 dirhams (about $28 USD) a day, 500 dirhams a week or 1800 dirhams a month! Mini-bar prices very high. Advertisements for hotel restaurants everywhere (even on the bathroom mirror).
Overall, I rate the hotel as average (when compared to similar hotels). Nothing really negative, but nothing really grabs you either. No "WOW" factor, which you kind of expect in a 5* hotel in Dubai.
