Bangkok is an interesting city full of awesome historical sites, bargain shopping and delicious food. For our 3 night/4 day visit in December 2007, my husband and I stayed at the Century Park in Pratuman (9 Ratchaprarop Road, Pratunam-Victory Monument Bangkok).
Checking in at 1:00am was a breeze - The front desk was very accommodating and efficient and we were greeted by warm smiles. Our room was clean, spacious - tastefully decorated and had a very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom was clean with a tub and shower stall, hairdryer and the usual toiletries. We noticed a problem with our toilet flush and called front desk early the next morning - our concerns were immediately addressed and we had a plumber that fixed the problem in about 10 minutes total. Great service!
We also had an in-room safe and a minibar with complementary water bottles each day. Our room Air-Conditioning was a welcome relief after hot, muggy days touring the city.
Our accommodations included a daily breakfast buffet that was totally delectable. Their spread had both western and Asian varieties to satisfy everyone's cravings! From various tropical fruits and juices, to breads, pastries, cheeses and spreads, cereal, eggs, meats, pancakes/waffles, rice, noodles, dim sum, congee...and the list goes on and on. They even had made to order cappuccino! Breakfast was served from 7am-10am.
Though hotel description says they are walking distance to the BTS, it is quite a challenge to get there. We tried it once, and we got so tired and sweaty that we decided to take taxis everywhere we went. Taxis are very affordable, we paid anywhere from $2.00-8.00 USD to get us from the hotel to different tourist sites and shopping. Helpful information - Taxi from and to the Airport is about 350-400 Baht ONLY! That's about $12-13 USD. Remember to always ask the driver to use his taxi meter.
There is a Foot Massage Salon by the side of the hotel's driveway - it is a great bargain and such a relaxing treat after a whole day of sight-seeing. Walk down towards the street and turn right - it will be one of the establishments along the road. An internet cafe is also available in that area. The hotel's rate for internet use is rather expensive.
I would highly recommend the Century Park in Bangkok. We had 4 star hotel service/accommodation for a 2 star hotel price from Asia Rooms.com. Hotel staff was pleasant, accommodating and forever with a smile.
