We stayed at the Intercontinental in March 2007 and could not fault anything. The hotel is perfectly situated right next to the Skytrain and close to the shopping centres. Our room was very spacious with everything you required. The breakfast was superb with masses of choice. The staff were always courteous and helpful. We made use of the rooftop pool at the end of each busy day. We did participate in some retail therapy but spend most of our days sightseeing. We had dinner at Vertigo, the view was amazing but it wasnt the best meal we had ever had and we did feel slightly rushed. Next time I think I would just enjoy a few drinks at the bar. We also enjoyed a fantastic buffet at one of the hotels along the river. I have never seen so much food!!! There was every possible cuisine you could imagine - Italian, Sushi, BBQ, Thai, seafood...........

We loved Bangkok and hope to return again.

Short Review: Great location, very good rooms. Much better than the Holiday Inn next door - if you can afford the higher rate at the IC, choose it by far above the HI.

Long Review: Stayed here for a week. The great location is mentioned before - you just hop on the BTS just outside the door. Siam Paragon and that area is just a short 10-min walk on the sky bridge.

The rooms are very nice, but I was in two different rooms - - and in the same class (rates), there can be significant differences between them.

There is currently construction going on - the fliers we got said the rest of the year. This may limit the flexibility to get a preferred room (e.g., high floor).

The service is very good, but not excellent (sometimes slow and sometimes varied by staff).... not at 5-star level. For example, the Banyan Tree has better responses to guest request. So, the service is very good, but could be better to reach a true 5-star level.

Overall, this is a very good hotel and I would recommend it.

I have stayed in many different hotels in Bangkok, but no hotel is better than IC.
It might not have the river view one can find at Shangri-La, Hilton etc, and it might not be in the middle of Sukhumvit, but when it comes to service and professionalism, this is as good as it gets!

At my recent stay I got upgraded to a very nice corner room. Very clean, marvelous marble bath room with separate bath tub and shower.
Excellent serviceminded staff, that knows that details matter!

We used this hotel at the start and end of our recent trip to Bangkok and it was excellent.

The hotel is in a great location - the sky train is right outside and the shopping is fantastic all around.

The service was great in the hotel. We emailed ahead and asked if we could leave a bag at the hotel due to the weight restrictions on some internal flights. This wasn’t an issue and was a free service.

The concierge was also fantastic we had booked a tour with Tong and as soon as we where down stairs looking around for the driver they phoned the mobile number provided, to find out where he was.

They also provided adapters, this was brought to the room within 5 mins and we received a follow up call to make sure it was ok. On our return visit we were up graded to a suite and these rooms had plugs that took English plugs - amazing!!

The swimming pool was lovely up on the roof although the water was abit cold for me!! But it was great to go up there after a long day sightseeing.

Only minor point was that we arrived late on the 27th Dec and asked about food, there didn’t appear to be room service but front desk advised that McDonalds was over the road or local food on the street. As we didn’t know where we where we just went to bed- but if you need food it is really easy and safe to walk over to McDonalds at that time of night, if your that hungry!. Also the bar closes at 1 am - arriving late it would have been nice to get a drink before going to bed.

Would definitely go back and stay there again - for those that collect points with the Intercontinental group - the where offering hits hotel for 5,000 points a night - it is worth checking it out to see if the promo is still running.
