“A sigh of relief”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

This is my third trip to Disneyland and I wanted to be super close this time so I booked this hotel. I was worried due to previous reviews but I could not pass up the convience of being so close to the pedestrian cross walk right into Disney. I am glad I took my chances cause it worked out really well for our three kids and the hotel was a pleasant stay. Check in went smooth and when we got to our room there were folded towells made to look like swans on the beds. I thought that was a nice touch. We recieved a phone call about 15 minutes after we checked in from the front desk asking us if we found the room suitable. The rooms are your standard motel type rooms but we found them to be what we needed for our trip. We would be at Disney for most of the day anyway. I was happy we had a decent size fridge with a small freezer and a microwave that you could stand a baby bottle up in. ( for you moms who think about stuff like that) I wanted to let you all know a few little things that worked out for our family. Starting with the pool, a small section of it is 1 1/2 feet deep. This was perfect for my toddler and they provide extra towells by the hot tub so you don't have to use the ones from your room. There are also a good amount of pool side chairs/tables. For the free breakfast we brought the tray from the room to carry the food items. The tiny room where they serve the breakfast is very crowed! I did not take the kids in there-no way! There is a court yard @ the front of the hotel with tables and around that are two small t-shirt/souvenir shops, a larger convenience store with a bigger selection of souvenirs, a walk up pizza place ( with other items on the menu), and a snack shack with coffee and ice-cream, etc. Just off the office, there is a tourist center. We bought our Disney tickets there and they also have discounted tickets to various other places. Oh, and an ATM machine is located there as well. There is also a small video game room where the kids liked to play during our down time. WE SAW NEW BEDS BEING DELIVERED....good cause they were too hard! We stayed on the fourth floor and just a warning-the fireworks are LOUD! I mean you are really that close to Disneyland. We asked for a room with a view of the fireworks and they gave us a perfect spot. I have pictures of this hotel but I can not find the cord to my camera so I will post them at a later date. The service was decent. We always saw maintenance, grounds keepers and maid service working diligently, so no complaints there. The carpet is in need of being cleaned...I hope they do this for future guests. Over all, our 6 night stay here was good. We drove 6 hours to get to Disneyland so it was nice to just be able to park the car and have everything we needed right there on site.
Thanks.

“Great location, not very clean”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

I recently stayed at the Ramada Maingate with my three boys for five days. I only paid $98/nt and two of our nights were free. My expectations weren't super high as we've been to Disneyland before and I had seen the outside of the property. This was my choice this trip simply because of location. Check in went smoothly and we bought our disneyland tickets right there. The rooms were older and fairly dirty. The carpets were gross and I made sure that nothing clean ever landed down there. The beds, though old and worn, were suprisingly comfortable. We requested four more pillows on our fist night and they were brought to us in record time. The kids loved the pool and it's good for all ages of kids. The shallow end is large and only 1 1/2 feet deep, the deep end is 8ft. I did step on a rib bone from, I'm assuming, Tony Roma's next door while swimming in the pool with my two year old. Fairly gross. I wouldn't rave about the continental breakfast by any means, it's the traditional unhealthy fare...danish, donuts, dry cereal, etc. There were fresh oranges and the coffee wasn't too bad. The kids loved the short lived donuts for breakfast. Our room keys quit working three times and I would have to haul three tired and cranky kids back to the front desk for a new card key, housekeeping would not let us in our room. The tub was stained and didn't drain well so you had to take a quick shower to avoid standing in nasty water. All in all this is the place to stay if you want good proximity to the park, just keep fairly low expectations for the rooms. If you are planning on spending any length of time in your room you may want to hit the Best Western or Fairfield Inn. I will probably do the same next time as well.

“Suitable for families”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

I want to start with the positives -- this hotel is really ideal for families coming to Disneyland. It is literally right across the street and couldn't be more convenient. They've got a nice breakfast set up by the pool and even though it's motel style (rooms face parking lot), it was actually quite quiet.

I ended up here last minute for a convention that was in town, and it wasn't problem-free. The rooms are in need of renovation, both faucets leaked and I could see daylight behind the air conditioner. But it is nice that the rooms have microwaves and refrigerators.

If I'm back in Anaheim on business, I'll definitely go to a hotel that is more suitable for business travelers. Can't rave about the Ramada but they did handle my concerns fairly and I do think it's a good value for families.

“Going For A Repeat!”

Ramada Inn Maingate at Park Anaheim

We stayed here with a family of 21! Although the rooms were older, they were clean and comfortable with a fridge and microwave. The kids (ages 3-16) loved the pool, and as parents we enjoyed the continental breakfast and snack bars up front to help keep our food costs down. The walk to Disneyland was very convenient, and made it easy to go back to our rooms for a break. We have planned another Disney trip in May and have already booked our rooms!
