“Good price, great location, Wi-Fi problems”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

I just returned from four nights at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. We stayed on the second floor with two beds. We were thrilled with the price and how close it was to the parks (10 minute easy walk from our door to the main gates and directly next to the Tower of Terror in CA Adventure). The rooms were a nice size and we enjoyed the large pool, attractive grounds, nice onsite gift shop, large fridge, and bfast buffett where kids eat free.

On the negative side, I have to work when I travel, so internet access is a major consideration for me. I knew I would have to pay a daily rate and read elsewhere that you could pay for a week for $20. I should have confirmed this with the hotel (my fault), and it turned out to be a whopping $50 a week (or $10/day). I grumbled about the cost, but paid anyway only to find out that the wi-fi was awful. It was unbearably slow at times, and work that should have taken me about an hour took over two hours. This issue alone will probably keep me from returning to this hotel. If I'm going to have to pay a ridiculously high price for internet access, I at least expect it to be reliable and reasonably fast. It was absolutely awful.

Other comments: While the room was rough around the edges, it was adequately clean with the exception of the carpets. I walked barefoot on them and they felt gross - kind of well, spongy like there's moisture in them or something.

I was glad to stay on the second floor. I might have been a bit concerned about security on the ground floor. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for price and location but would advise anyone who needs reliable internet access to go elsewhere.

“Excellent Place to Stay!”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

My family & I have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza many times & couldn't be happier with it. The rates are VERY reasonable, the rooms are cheery & clean, with spacious balconies & lovely veiws, the grounds are kept up beautifully, & the staff is awesome! Very friendly, helpful & go over the top to make your stay a pleasant one. The on-site facilities, gift shop & restaurant are very reasonabley priced & offer a wide selection {my son LOVES the arcade room!}, sure to please anyone. The location is perfect, close to shops, dining, entertainment & of course, right across the street from the entrance to Disneyland. Perfect for a vacation at Disney, when you have kids & need a mid-day break from the park. Aside from the friendly, heplful staff, clean rooms, & all it's other great features, they also have pet friendly & smoking rooms. A BIG plus for our family, as we have 2 small dogs who go everywhere with us, & I'm a smoker. And, unlike other pet/smoker friendly hotels, the rooms are super clean...no old smoke odors or pet stains/odors. You'd never guess a pet or smoker occupied the room before you!} We've stayed at a few of the Disney hotels, & several others hotels {20 + yrs. of yearly trips to disneyland} & have yet to find one that compares in price, staff, cleanliness, location, & overall pleasant experience, as the Anaheim Plaza. We'll be back next year, & every year, when we take our usual family trip to Disneyland. I wouldn't stay anywhere else, even if it was free!!!

“I felt ripped off & disappointed (Maid steals)”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

I was very disappointed. Upon entering the carpets were filthy and there was that strange smell, I didn't ever dare walk barefoot, I ended up putting towels on the ground and we hopped around from towel to bed if we had no socks on. The air conditioner even on full barely kept the room cool, my daughter and I stayed in one room and another couple stayed in a joining room and although I paid exactly the same price as them, they had a microwave and we did not, and there closet was 3 times the size. Our tub/shower was a problem right off the bat, never any hot water, and it dribbled out, and then didn't drain properly as you stood there trying to get the soap out of your hair. The sink also had a drainage problem. Small sandpaper towels as well. Which I guess I can understand that, with the high turnover and bleach they must need to use. A couple times I gave up on our shower and asked to use our friends and theirs was 50% better. It's funny with reviews I think sometimes you end up with a dud room and others get a room with no problems, I ended up with a dud. Near the end of our stay the shower broke completely and they got a repairman in that night but he came in with his dirty work boots on, and then left the bathroom a disgusting mess of mud! We were on the lower floor and also had trouble sleeping because we could hear the people upstairs and doors slammed all the time when anyone in the whole corridor area left their room. Someone else mentioned the problem with the air conditioner being by the sliding door and therefore trying to keep the light out was a problem, with the curtain not being properly fitted. The sliding door opened onto a concert small slab completely surrounded with tall fencing which we never went out on, as it felt more like a jail area and was in over heat sun heat the whole day anyways! I guess the only good thing about that is you didn't have to worry about someone breaking in through the slider which is why I'm sure they did that. I did notice other rooms (i.e. upper rooms had a balcony which looked like they would have been nice as some had the view of the pool at least. And most of all which annoyed & upset me the most, was we started to notice things from our room go missing, the first time I thought maybe we misplaced it, but sure enough it happened several more times and it was for the strangest things like the box of expensive (to me) chocolate covered toffee prezels I purchased at Disneyland to bring back home as a gift to my parents which I even had hidden and not left in plain sight. Stuff from our fridge went missing also. I had very little spending money after paying for the hotel so this hurt me the most. Also, 3 of the 4 washing machines and 2 of the 4 dryers were broken, so I was never able to use them as some lady with 7 kids happened to be at them all day, I guess she lived there..LOL Being a single parent on a limited income this was a very disappointing stay for me. In case your wondering you can't see the fireworks that well unless you walk a ways from the hotel as usually trees block the view, I was on the first floor in a corridor facing other rooms though, so I can't say if maybe some of the other rooms might have a view of them, but I don't think so, as the front desk and the restaurant occupy the front part of the hotel, and the rooms are behind. In the past I have always stayed at budget hotels in the area around Disneyland... which were usually the magic lamp and magic carpet which I had no problems, in fact loved and usually paid $50 or less for, they don't exist anymore because of the convention center so I was forced to book a new place, and my mistake in booking this one which cost me $120 per night, which for me I thought must therefore be a fantastic hotel for that price when I was happy before with a $50 one, my expectations were so much higher.

There were in all fairness some pros... and if I did not have the room complaints then I would have been able to give a ok review. I did like the pool, as it was very big and a good temp. and they had a hot tub also. I liked how they had a gift shop on site, and a restaurant on site, and I didn't have any complaints in the restaurant food department, and even liked how my child got to eat free when I purchased a meal. If I was without a child I think I would have enjoyed the lounge area also, it looked nice. The front desk staff also I have no complaints with, even though had I really spoke my mind on the room I'm sure this opinion could have changed (Ha Ha). I also liked the short walk to Disneyland from the Hotel and that there was a Tony Roma's in walking distance as well.

Have stayed here 6 times now and you cannot beat it. This is the perfect place to use as a base for exploring Disneyland. The rooms are a decent size and have always been clean. The gardens are not too bad and the pool area is pretty good. Sure, it does appear a few items are run down and could be replaced, but for the price and location, who cares.

We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel for 7 nights from the 10th April 2008. It was our second stay at this hotel and it is fantastic. I really dont know where some of the negative reviews have come from. We are a group of dancers from AUstralia. We had 35 families stay at this hotel and there was not one complaint. The rooms are huge.We had 4 people in each room and there was plenty of space. The proximity to Disneyland and the price of this hotel are its greatest points. The pool area is also fantastic and the laundry was very handy. The staff were all very nice and the room was cleaned well every day. THe huge open grassed areas are great and we never felt unsafe or worried about security. I left my passports and money in my suitcase in the room without problem but they do have safes at the front desk. You really cant beat this hotel. It has everything you need and more and on both occasions we have stayed there (in different areas of the hotel) we never found it unclean. We often stay in 5 star hotels (which this certainly wasnt) and this hotel was just as comfortable if not a little older. It is surrounded by restuarants and was great to come back for a swim and relax from Disneyland before going back later in the evening. THere is a handy shop there selling snacks and souveniers as well as a small restuarant (we didnt eat there though as there are too many other restuarants to try). I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
