I have to disagree with the previous review about Hotwire rates being a rip-off. Rates with the anaheim hotels (especially the Good Neighbor Hotels which this is one of) are season- higher at times and lower at others. I have seen peak rates for non discounted rooms at 120+ a night for this property.
There are basic rooms and there are "suites". We contemplated upgrading to a "suite"- I called the hotel after pricing around and they said we could upgrade for $60 a night (an actual cost of $120 a night, which was a $40 break of the price at the time). Bottomline, we paid $56 a night via priceline- and that was a *fabulous* rate. In fact, overall it was a terrific value.
We were put in the back of the property- didn't bother me- it actually allowed us good parking spots and easy access to the door in and elevator up. And- easy access to walk outside and sit and watch the fireworks from the hotel! It was a nice plus.
The service at the front desk was very 'so-so'. The clerk was veeeery slow checking us in. My parents had left a suitcase for us at the hotel and it took them 15 minutes to figure out how to get it for us, and despite a lot of baggage no one offered to get a cart for us. A little help and faster service would have been great considered we were hauling in with 2 2yr old and a 7 year old and had driven from the San Fran. area. Not only that when we got to the room neither of the keys worked- it took THREE attempts to get IN the room. That was the only glitch the entire time though.
Noise Caution- if you or someone in your group is very sensitive to noise you should probably ask to be given a central room in the hotel and on the side not facing the parking structure. Like clockwork with the fireworks- the Disneyland parking garage goes "off" (all the car alarms) for a good 30 mins. It was slightly annoying, but we didn't have folks who had to go to bed early. But if that would be a problem for you, take that into consideration.
We ordered room service once, it wasn't exceptionally over priced, just standard, and the food amounts were decent.
The room itself was very roomy and comfy. Others have said they not- I question that. The previous year we stayed in a standard Dland Hotel room- those have NO more ammenities in-room and are about 33% smaller. Comparably, these rooms for 5 people and two child-sized blow up beds fit us very nicely. The room was cleaned- no complaints. It showed a bit of wear and age but nothing that made it unpleasant.
Location- we didn't opt to use ART. I read so many mixed reviews about that option that I didn't pre-purchase the passes. It's a long walk. If you do not want to walk when you are very tired, if you have a lot of stuff, if you don't like walking- -then don't try this option. You cannot cut thru to the Disney Parking Lot (which does have a shuttle) despite the fact it's RIGHT there. The 25 foot wall will stop you =D
Our last (partial) day in the parks we drove over to the parking structure and that was pretty convient. Not a bad option, especially if you have lots of stuff and kids. Mostly, we walked (with a double stroller) and yeah, it takes about 15 - 20 mins to get to the park entrances. You could also walk to downtown Disney and take the monorail. I doubt that would say you time, though it might save your feet a bit.
I would definitely return here- though we like to try different places out, especially for the same price!
