We booked a "Lavender Bay" view apartment as all of the Harbour view apartments were fuly booked.

Paid a reasonable price considering the location and facilities.

The apartment had everything we needed, nicely decorated and the view was up to North Sydney and over a pretty bay full of boats.

We stayed for 5 days and got up each morning for a swim in the great pool that is right on the water's edge. There were great cafes up the road for brekkie.

Staff were really helpful as we hadn't been to Sydney before and they gave us some great tips on the best resturants to eat in the city & bars to go drinking at.

Ferry runs until about 11pm most nights so getting around wasn't a problem.

The quality and, more importantly, attitude of Harbourside left a lot to be desired. This is a reasonably expensive place to stay, but really we had the feeling that everything was a bit cheap.
The good news - the view of the Bridge and Opera House was fantastic - ask for the rooms looking towards the bridge, and try for at least the 7th floor or above. Comfortable king sized bed in the main bedroom.
The bad news - furnishings and electronic appliances were quite dated. Small TV, no internet access. There was no air-conditioning (30-35 degrees when we stayed and we sweated at night), nor is there central heating - small plug-in heater in each bedroom (nothing in the lounge, kitchen or bathroom). The pool is outdoors and not heated (limiting the amount of time each year it would be tolerable to swim in). The pool faces east so gets the morning sun, shaded in the afternoon. Car parking is awkward - had trouble getting my car around the corners in the multi-level car park.
The cheap - as mentioned, the furnishings were less than expected. You have to ask for the complimentary morning newspaper, although advertised in the tariff. Swimming pool towels not offered. Really, welcome provisions consisted of 6 dry biscuits, the smallest carton of milk possible and awful instant coffee. There was an awful odour around reception for 3 of the 4 days that we stayed. The car park lights weren't working - a bit scary walking to and from the car in the evening in pitch darkness.
Other details - the apartments are located on the North Shore of the Harbour, away from the main tourist areas - need to take the ferry across the Harbour for most of the tourist attractions. The nearest restaurants and cafe are about 1 kilometre away, and are of excellent quality (except 1 expensive restaurant on the water's edge, next door - we didn't try it).

On the North shore in the same bay (opposite side to Luna Park). Walk out the front door of the hotel and there is the Sydney Habour Bridge and Opera House across uninterupted views of the Bridge, Opera House and Sydney CBD. Ferry to circular key leaves 200m from front door, free parking, modern interior easy to get to, fantastic local cafe strip. Perfect location and very reasonable price. Studio apartment was huge for 2 people!

This is the third time that we have stayed at these apartments and they have the absolute BEST view of Sydney. The apartment that we stayed in had been upgraded to a much better arrangement with wooden floors,and a superb kitchen and bathroom. The staff could not have been more helpful. We would not stay anywhere else
