We cancelled a booking that we had at another apartment hotel after reading bad reviews on Trip Advisor. We then chose Harbourside Apartments from a Sydney Hotel website and checked Trip Advisor for reviews before confirming. If it is a view of Sydney Harbour that you are looking for, these apartments are for you! We booked into a 2 bed apartment and had panoramic views of the whole of Sydney Harbour. The view of the Bridge and Opera House were second to none. The apartment itself was adequate, although this was the middle of Winter in Australia and the heating is individual plug in radiators which were not switched on prior to our arrival. The ferry stops 50 metres from the hotel door so you can get easily to Darling Harbour and Circular Quay without ever getting into a taxi or bus. The hotel provides a packed breakfast which is pretty mediocre, so you really need to make use of the supermarket facilities nearby, or go for breakfast in one of the cafes a short walk away. Darling Harbour has all kinds of restaurants, but all outside, so be prepared to be cold if you go in the winter.

Having never been to Sydney before we were worried about the "non city" location - there was absolutely no need to be worried! The hotel is so close to the water and the views were brilliant - the Opera House & Harbour Bridge are literally in your face. We jumped on ferry into the city and then came back to the peace and quiet of the hotel. You have to walk up a few stairs to the closest shop but other than that - no complaints.

You seriously cannot get a better view in Sydney. If you book a harbour view apartment you look straight at the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. You catch the ferry to them. 10 minute walk to groovy McMahons Point (2 great pubs & loads of cafes).

After booking my stay on Wotif I thought that it would be a safe bet...clean and comfy etc. But when I got there I was immediately disappointed. The hotel has no services at all. No cafes or restaurants close by. My room was old and very tired. It smelt horrible (old and musty) and the bathroom was far from clean - in fact the light didn't even work so I had to do my makeup in the lounge room! The bed was comfortable but with very thin blankets that had seen better days. I had trouble sleeping all night as it was so horrible. I even checked the bed for bugs! which gives you the idea of how terrible it was. Strong food smells in the hall way filtered into the apartment as well and made me uncomfortable.
I would definitely not recommend this as a place to stay unless you are used to travelling in 2 star type of hotels. This would definitely rate as a 2 star in my opinion - and that is just because of the state of the room.
