We had a blast. My son is an animal lover and he says it was the best day of his life. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our guide was amazing and worth every cent of his $20 tip. It only took 90 minutes to go thru but wow.

I will add some photos.

It is a "hands on" experience for sure!!!!!

“Best Daytrip in Mexico!!”

We absolutely loved Crococun! We spent a day there in 2004 and are returning there for our next trip. It was by far our favorite day of a 2 week stay and we loved every minute of it!

To get there we took a collectivo from Playa Del Carmen which can drop you off on the side of the highway right beside the entrance.

The entry fee is small, around $15 USD per person and half price for children. They have a small store there where you can buy authentic mexican candy (boy did my daughter get a surprise when she bit in to her candy ~ hot, hot, hot!) and soft drinks. You can also buy a small bag of peanuts for $1USD to feed to the monkeys in the park.

We received our own guide - Sophia - and we were taken all through the park. She took us up to each exhibit and explained what it was, where they lived and somethings that made them interesting. At many of the exhibits we were able to hold or touch the animals. While we were there we did not see many other guests and we felt like we had the park to ourselves!

I felt that the animals are all held in safe and humane quarters. This isn't a big commercialized place so the proceeds go towards taking care of these animals yet there aren't a zillion guests pawing at them.

In particular we enjoyed a baby monkey that followed us around for the afternoon! In total we spent about half of the day there. At the end we tipped our guide and she was very pleased with her tip. The entire time she was very pleasant and informative! I felt like I could have been friends with her if we lived in the same area.

Interesting story - during our day at Crococun there was 1 hairless dog that was allowed to run around and be free while the rest of them stayed in their locked in area. When it was time to go into the big crocodile area, the dog accidentally got in ahead of us and our guide had to chase him out! This got all of the croccodiles attention and they were a lot more lively then they normally would be. Our guide had to poke them with a large stick every now and then to get them to back up, lol, they thought we were their lunch!

I think that a trip to Crococun is very affordable and enjoyable. We will return here as well as to Xcaret which we also enjoyed.

good time visited monkeys , crocs, and other animals ... i don't usually go for this type of thing ie zoo/animal attraction ... but they do a lot of work with rehab and getting pet monkeys out of homes and into a wilder enviroment .... having a wild (yet tame) monkey come steal food from my hand was a high light of my trip ....

You pretty much have to be travelling independently in a rented car to be able to stop at this park. It is right on the highway just south of Cancun.

There are numerous turtles, lizards, crocodiles, monkeys, etc to walk around and see. The guides are really good and speak English.

The entrance fee was quite small, but the guides aren't employed by the park so they live on your tips. A group of 4 of us gave him around $30 for a 2hr tour and he seemed really happy with that.

We got to hold baby crocodiles, and our guide was very amused by us chickening out at one point. He handed us large and larger crocs (starting at about 5 inches long)....when he started getting out the ones that were over a foot we hastily declined.

The other somewhat scary moment was when we went through a small gate and realized belatedly that he had just taken us into the adult crocodile area. Even though its hot and they are torpid and well-fed it takes a little never to stand within a foot or two of these guys.

It is never crowded since it isn't flashy enough to be on any bus tour itineraries.

“Croco-cun is Cool”

Visited Spring Break March 2005 with my husband and 14 year old son. Transportation was the collectivo from Playa del Carmen. We had a fun time at this little advertised "zoo." Admission was about $10 or 12. Refreshments were available. You got your own personal guide to take you through the jungle like grounds. English speaking guides were available. We had a nice guy who had limited English but with my limited Spanish and handy dictionary I had fun practicing my Spanish. I got kissed by a macaw, touched various small crocs and snakes, looked at iguanas and venomous snakes, and fed Pepe, the wild pig. and some deer. There was a rather precarious walk through a crocodile habitat with large enough to eat us specimens and only a low rock fence to separate us from them! However, they seemed uninterested. There was a croc hospital. It seems they like to bite each other. The only negative was that there were some monkeys that were tethered to the trees to keep them from escaping and maybe even away from the crocs, but they were very mobile as their tethers didn't keep them from climbing around. We fed them too. They even pointed to themselves to indicate who to throw the snacks to! There was a giant croc at the end and some bored xoloizquintle dogs. Clean bathroom and place to wash your hands after. Great out of the sun activity that even my teenager enjoyed.
