We stayed in the Golden Tulip Olymp after a long drive from Frankfurt via stops at Frankenstein's Castle in Darmstadt and the Heidelberg Caste. It was a very long day, exhausting drive and we were all dead on our feet.

Unfortunately the GPS in the rental car did not know the street on which the hotel was located. Finding it was difficult; we ended up stopping at the train station in Munich (only place open) to purchase a map. Make sure that you have a map BEFORE setting off for this hotel.

The hotel was very warm and inviting upon entering the lobby. We rented two rooms that were just alike. The hotel has two buildings connected by a breeze-way. The two rooms that we rented were in the second building. The door to each room in that building opens up to the outdoors, as opposed to a heated hall as in the first building. The rooms were immaculately clean and contained two rooms with one bedroom, a living area with a foldout couch, a refrigerator, stove top and a stocked mini-bar. There was ample room and amenities.

Arrived via taxi from Airport. 20-25 mins to get there.
Receptionists were all very polite and helpful. The room was very good, loved the decor, like the oldie look (Bavarian) not into the niche, trendy hotels.

Bathroom was very good, beds good, the one thing that let it down for me was the smell of cigarette smoke on my bed, kept me awake. (It was a non-smoking room!) Other than that is was very good.

The food in the restaurant was way above average, breakfast and evening meal.

Can not fault the hotel, except a little bit out of Munich for us, but not overly bad.

Directions for train station are out of hotel turn left on to main road, then left again to shops, bear left slightly and go behind shops and its 5 mins from there. Pay for tickets on the station then stamp them in blue machine.

All in all a very nice break.

booked the hotel via gta hotel online and received a call 12hrs later to confirm.good service on their part there. when we got to the hotel though, man behind the desk did not have our bookings, the internet didnt work to acess the bookings, and after abut 30mins or so, we were given our room. rooms really nice and spacious. good bathroom facilities. had dinner at the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding quality on the menu. breakfast the following day was excellent as well. overall, good facilities. i think the hoteliers staff s approach to guests who booked online could be better.

This hotel is lovely, but it is well out in the suburbs. Perfect for the night before flying out. The restaurant is fabulous and the room the best week stayed in on the entire trip (and the cheapest).
