Had the great pleasure of staying at the zum Turken over the May Day holiday. Frau Scharfenberg, the owner of the Hotel (it's been in her family for over 100 years!) is a treasure, she speaks english, she is very helful and friendly and she is a great cook!
The rooms are very clean and offer great panoramic views of the Untersberg mountain and the valley, the breakfasts are fantastic, and the hotel offers few distractions as it does not have telephones , televisions or the internet in the rooms.
There is lots to do in the area. There is hiking, boating, salt baths, historic places, and wonderful German dining.
All in all, my stay was a very positive and restful experience where I got to meet and become acquainted with the hotel quests in a casual peaceful setting, reminiscent of the way hotels and guest houses used to be in the 1950's. You will want to return again! I highly recommend the zum Turken to you!
