“Fantastic!”

Victorian Heritage Bed and Breakfast

May 4, 2008

This was a great bed and breakfast experience! The home is just beautiful with so much character. We stayed in the Honorable Judge Monk room and the Charles Monk room, which were both beautiful (although it must be noted that the Judge Monk room has a window onto the front street which is a bit noisy, though the windows when closed do prevent the noise from disturbing your sleep). The breakfast was great - fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt with home made jam, a number of different kinds of fresh bread and fresh fruit. We loved the clawfoot tub in the room, that was a real treat. Even the soap they leave for you in your room is a really nice goatsmilk soap. There are all the conveniences of a larger hotel, including internet access, cable t.v., and having your room made up everyday, but with way more character and in a great location. It took us about 5 minutes to walk to the nearest subway station, and about 15 to Old Montreal. We can absolutely recommend this place and hope to return!

“Love the hospitality”

Victorian Heritage Bed and Breakfast

Mar 28, 2008

The interior decor was superb. Denis, the owner, renovated the 1870s mansion with modern amenities and still kept the vintage charm...

The house is full of pleasant surprises...Take time to explore. Denis is a congenial host at breakfast time...foods are homemade and juices are fresh sqeezed. He even accomodated our special requests...

Denis exhibited encyclopedic knowledge of local restaurants.

We will definitely return.

“A blizzard hit and they took care of me!”

Victorian Heritage Bed and Breakfast

Mar 15, 2008

Dennis and his staff were wonderful. And they know a lot about the history of the house. My planned stay was just as I had hoped. The B&B beautiful and the breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice and organic breads was great. Then a blizzard hit and my flight was cancelled. Dennis welcomed me back, and his consideration and service made all the difference! The Victorian Heritage Bed and Breakfast is the place to stay in Montréal.

“Loved it!”

We had a wonderful stay, and Denis was a wonderful host. This B and B had excellent amenities, to name a few: the billiard room was a lot of fun, and the free internet and maps were great. The best part of the place -- to get from one side of the building to the other, there is a secret passageway. We felt like secret agents every time we moved about, it was so cool! The room was beautiful, clean, and had so much character. Breakfast was great as well -- fresh juices, breads, and something different each morning. The location was great. A crepe place around the corner, and less than a mile walk to the Old Town on a nice day. Bars and restaurants were everywhere around the B and B. Denis was great in recommending places to go.

“This is the best! Victorian luxury - exceptional location”

This B&B was simply outstanding. The interior of the two adjoining manors has been lavishly restored with beautiful Victorian furnishings and antiques. The lovely woodwork found in every room gives the feeling that you have been transported back to another age. In particular, if you are seeking a luxurious and romantic retreat - this is the place. The atmosphere overall is warm and inviting.
We stayed in the Monk manor, which is especially lovely. It felt like we'd woke up and found ourselves in a French chateaux. The claw foot tub across from the bed was an indulgence we sought out at least twice a day! Our room was on the second floor and although it overlooked a downtown street by the populated Rue St. Denis, the soundproofing on the windows prevented us from hearing anything at all. The rooms are also complete with a standard shower and toiletries, including goat milk soaps. The air conditioning during the day was extremely comfortable, especially after our long summer walks. The bed was divine, with a mildly firm mattress and quality linens. I might also note the entire manor was at all times immaculately clean and well attended. Iron, refrigerator, cable tv and wi-fi was available in the room.
The buffet breakfast was enjoyable, if modest - especially the hand squeezed orange juice the owner prepared each morning. More than anything, I was especially appreciative of the fact breakfast was available up until 11. On weekends, there is a generous assortment of fresh breads to chose from, on week days it is served on a smaller scale. The jams are also homemade and delicious. We loved to take our plates and sit out in the garden.
You can walk pretty much to anywhere from this location. One of the main metro stations is also a block away. Many fine restaurants are a few minutes walk from the door.
We could not have been happier with our stay and I don't believe it is possible to find any place nicer at this price.
($150-180 per night. Note that B&B site doesn't include tax in the price)
