“Not up to the usual Marriott standards”

Stayed here with high hopes that the Marriott Brand comes with an assurance of quality. The hotel itself is well located near to downtown and within walking distance of Stanley Park / west end / downtown. The hotel was certainly not of five star quality and someway below four star standards. Room was small and no bathroom toiletries such as shampoo or conditioner were provided. No bathrobe in the room and no minibar- if you wanted provisions then there was a kiosk service which you could ring down for which was inconvenient. I asked for an adaptor and a $20 charge / deposit was added to my bill for this. Internet connection extremely fast but again pricey for 24 hour use- not wireless in the room (wireless only in public areas). The staff were generally friendly and eager to please. Laundry was not returned within the day for regular service- arrived in the middle of the next day when I enquired about it. It seems as if the hotel has lost touch and is perhaps relying on its brand recognition for custom. For a Marriott it disappointed for the price paid ($225 ++ a night) and would consider Westin or Sheraton better bets. It will be interesting to see how the Shangri La's arrival (2009) forces hotels in Vancouver to pull their socks up a bit. Good location wise, but better service, rooms etc available elsewhere in Vancouver

“Looks out over the water and the seaplanes.”

Marriott Pinnacle Vancouver

4 of 5 stars
Columbus, OH
Jul 14, 2008

We had a great view from our room - 30th floor, looking down on the water, with sea planes taking off and landing right in front of us. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The concierges directed us to a great restaurant (Joe Forte's) and they helped us navigate the city for our one day trip. If one person wasn't knowledgeable, there was always someone else to help. The room was a fairly typical Marriott room. The bed was comfy, but that is more than expected in a Marriott these days.

The room is near all of the downtown tourist venues. You could walk to Stanley Park, Granville Island, Gastown and Canada Center. We opted for a paid sightseeing bus tour so we could see the sights in our limited time and it stopped right outside the hotel. It's dead center in the middle of the biz district.

It's not east getting to downtown Vancouver from the airport, but apparently that will be solved when the train is completed prior to the 2010 Olympics. We suggest a cab for now. The Airporter took forever, although it was slightly cheaper. The Marriott was the sixth stop.

I would recommend the Marriott to anyone visiting Vancouver for business or pleasure.

“Bit overpriced”

Marriott Pinnacle Vancouver

Jul 12, 2008

Yes Vancouver is expensive for accomodation....and this hotel was no exception.

The problem was, we had just had amazing experiences in Hawaii, Victoria and Whistler so this was a huge let down.

Location was good, very central....but the room was comparatively small to all others we had stayed in on our trip so far and the dearest of all.

The staff were nice, but the feeling was that this has a huge hotel and very busy so you were kind of treated like just another guest...

It was ok...the room had a nice view....but we were kind of glad we were only staying one night before heading off to the USA.

Had three nights in this very good well run hotel.Very helpful and friendly and welcoming staff. Ask for high room to get wonderful panoramic views of the harbour and mountains.

“Surprsingly good, did not meet my expecttaions, but better then that!”

Marriott Pinnacle Vancouver

I alwqays have stayed in Fairmont Hotels in Vancouver. This was the first time that I have been in the Marriot.

And as the same in Halifax, it was a great stay. The building is very open, a lots of glass, so you get the feeling that the city is coming to you and you can go to the city.

It's situated in a quiet surrounding but downtown and close to the cruise center. A 7 minute walk. And in two minutes you are at the water side, close to the floatplanes.

Open reception and good staff. You can only go to your room with using your roomcard in the elevator. Oterwise you won't get up.

The rooms are spacious. The windos are all glass, so when you are situated at the highest level, you have marvellous views.

There is a high speed internet connection for a daily rate around CA$16.

The bathroom is spacious with a bath and a seperate shower.

There is enough space for your clothes etc.

I went one morning to the swimming pool. Well maintained, good facilities, nice spa and open 24 hours.

I had breakfast there every morning and you can choose between buffet or a a la carte. Perfect!

I really and truly enjoyed my stay there and Marriot is on my list to advice other people.

At the corner you have a coffee shop with the best sandwiches and coffee in Vancouver. If you see how long the queue is before the shop.. :)
