Stayed here with high hopes that the Marriott Brand comes with an assurance of quality. The hotel itself is well located near to downtown and within walking distance of Stanley Park / west end / downtown. The hotel was certainly not of five star quality and someway below four star standards. Room was small and no bathroom toiletries such as shampoo or conditioner were provided. No bathrobe in the room and no minibar- if you wanted provisions then there was a kiosk service which you could ring down for which was inconvenient. I asked for an adaptor and a $20 charge / deposit was added to my bill for this. Internet connection extremely fast but again pricey for 24 hour use- not wireless in the room (wireless only in public areas). The staff were generally friendly and eager to please. Laundry was not returned within the day for regular service- arrived in the middle of the next day when I enquired about it. It seems as if the hotel has lost touch and is perhaps relying on its brand recognition for custom. For a Marriott it disappointed for the price paid ($225 ++ a night) and would consider Westin or Sheraton better bets. It will be interesting to see how the Shangri La's arrival (2009) forces hotels in Vancouver to pull their socks up a bit. Good location wise, but better service, rooms etc available elsewhere in Vancouver
