We booked through a connect on this site, and got 4 nights for $223 incl tax. So, for the price it was excellent. The furniture is worn, the pool is not cleaned to a nice blue, the bougainvillea are all dying in the planters off the decks, the place needs new paint, and the restaurant's food is not the best(cold coffee some of the time, not very tasty food, small portions) but the pluses are as follows: Jorge the waiter sings nicely, The pool is like bathwater, the desk man Jaime is nice, the place is clean-no mold or smells (except for the ugly old sponges by the kitchen sink you are supposed to use on your dishes...!) and the convenience store is cheap (a roll of cookies, 2 croissants ,2 bananas and orange for $2) and the poolside recliners are comfy. It seemed there were very few other guests.
If you want to eat, go to the El Jacolito restaurant just over the bridge to the right....a HUGE plate of Garlic butter shrimp (at least 16 big ones!) for only $9.90 which includes salsa and chips and rice/fresh veggies plus the shrimp and tortillas.....the shrimp is the BEST i have ever eaten, done to perfection bought fresh every day from Mazatlan. We ate there every day - 2 times a day!! Tomas and his family own and run the place....they are the best! Don't miss going there! You are guaranteed a good meal every time!!
All in all it was well worth the money spent Lots to see and do in Mismaloya.
Things we also liked: free internet connection at the hotel for our laptop, cheap beer available at the store (24 bottles corona for $15) and the hike up 4 floors to our room(no elevator). There is a massage place on the beach that will do 2 persons for an hour for $55, and Roberto will take you to Los arcos for an hour of tour and snorkelling for $30. All in all a good beginning to our vacation. We write this from our Casa Iguana room and we go to Casa Isabel tomorrow in pv.
