“Great Place to vacation but...”

The resort is beautifully maintained and a great place for a peaceful vacation .......but only if you can dodge the relentless pestering from the TIMESHARE staff who are disguised BEHIND THE CONCEIRGE DESK. BEWARE! ...

Need assistance? Don't look for it at the "desk".....the bell staff would be a better place for hassle-free help. Also some web sites state "this resort offers FREE transportation to the resort "......we learned AFTER accepting this offer it was only FREE if you attended the 90-minute plus TIMESHARE presentation. (There is no disclaimer stating your presence is required at a 90-min resort presentation....stand firm on this).

We flatly refused the Conceirge demand for transportation payment when we refused the timeshare invitation upon our arrival. Then the harrassment started......repeated phone calls to our unit EVERYDAY some calls as early as 7:30AM! We were on vacation so we thought! Every visit through the lobby on the way off the resort we were continually asked why we were not interested in their "special" promotion.....by the weeks end we had had absolutely enough from these people.....and we never did buckle to the demand for payment on the NOT-SO-FREE TRANSPORTATION. Expect a great resort that may be ruined by BOGUS conceirge services.

We bought a week which was someone else's time share from a charity auction, so went not really knowing what to expect. The resort is a little bit older than some of the others in the hotel zone, but it is really nicely maintained. The grounds are beautiful, the staff really helpful and friendly. More importantly, the buildings are all only 2 stories max, and the ones facing the beach are right there -- I think our balconies were the closest to the water than anywhere in Puerto Vallarta.
The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, coffee maker, etc. The Gigante grocery just across the street was huge, clean, and had everything you needed for groceries.
As many others have mentioned, the public buses have a stop just outside the resort. We used these our whole stay to get into downtown and to go north to the cruise ship terminal where one of our day "adventures" left from.
There are time share people in the lobby -- a desk set up to look like where you would go to book tours or dinners (which they will do at discount if you agree to go to a timeshare presentation) -- but just ignore them or tell them firmly you aren't interested. In fact, time share sellers will dog you everywhere in Puerto Vallarta -- restaurants, hotels, even at the grocery store. Just a part of the deal.
We ate several times at the pool side restaurant, which was small but good and very friendly.
There are several good pools in the complex as well as good beach access and amazing views of Puerto Vallarta.
We had a great time at this place!

Los Tules is a great place to stay, you just have to ignore the timeshare people in the lobby. Tell them you are staying with friends that are owners, and you are not interested in buying...
We've been coming here for 6 years and have gotten the hang of "dumping" the time share people, no matter where they hit you, downtown, old Vallarta, Marina or Nuevo. You just need to know how to handle them. For the most part, you really don't need to be rude.
Los Tules is an old style resort on beautiful expansive grounds, not a new high-rise. It has a lot of carisma and a great location. The food and drinks at their Cafe Chapultapec are very good, and there is a great grocery store across the street if you would rather cook. The Gigante grocery store also sells beer, wine & liquor, along with anything else you may need.
We are returning again this year, and we hope for many years to come !!

Everything we wanted we got the resort although a little old was better than we could imagine for the price.
Two blocks down the main street we had a great time at Blakes Sports Bar, where Sue and Mike treated us as family.
Try Hectors Sunset for a fantastic meal.

A large group of our friends went down to Vallarta to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We managed to book several large timeshare at Los Tules. As promised, the staff picked us up at the airport and drove us to the hotel. We were impressed!
Upon our arrival we were ambushed by what I can only describe, as disguised hotel employees. We thought they were all part of the check in process. We were all tired from the flight and just wanted to get to our rooms. They went on and on and before we knew it, we agreed to go to their " free breakfast.". My advice to you is to tell them that you want to go to your room and rest and they can call you later to talk about their presentation.
The next day, after we recovered from the ambush, we decided not to go to their presentation. That's when the calls began. They called and told us we would have to pay for the breakfast if we did not go, then they said we would have to pay for the transportation from the airport. They even followed us around on the grounds. I finally told them I was here on vacation and could spend my time as I chose. They called me rude.
We finally complained to the mgr of the hotel. He explained to us that the time share people were not employees of the hotel itself but part of the main corporation. He told us that the time share folks could not charge us for the breakfast or the transportation unless we agreed to pay for it. He said he would not add it to our credit card because they asked him to. He told us to ignore the salespeople. If they continued to bother us he would let his mgr know that they were interfering with the comfort and relaxation of his guests.
Anyway the rest of the stay was great. The maids were awesome and the location of the hotel was good too. The view from our rooms, was to die for. Yes, there were some ants and geckos, but I would still go back again. I just know how to handle their rude time share people better now
