the showers were mostly cool or barely warm and very little pressure the room has little bugs on bathroom sink all the time front counter is very slow to rectify any small problems you will have to call at least twice. if you think allinclusive includes quality alcohol you will be wrong that all cost extra the only hard alcohol is the cheap crap in plastic bottles also its a pay bar for everything after 11:00 pm.the food is mostly crap i ate out almost every night breakfast is really bad unless you what fruit and cereal. as for the rooms there old,but fairly clean. they also only give you one bottle of water for the week that you have to refill at restaurant thats a joke. most of the employees are friendly so thats nice.nightly entertainment is a joke.

“Nice Hotel”

Las Palmas by the Sea

4 of 5 stars
Charlotte Area
Apr 9, 2008

This was the first time we'd been to the western side of Mexico, and I have to say it was beautiful. We had a connection in Houston going and Detroit coming home, which made for a lot of travel time.

Las Palmas was nice, clean, and drinks were plentiful. We ate the buffet every day, and I did notice most of the food was the same each day. There are enough choices that you wouldn't have to eat the same things if you didn't want to.

There are only 2 bars, and the one by the snack bar closes around 5 I believe, which made it a little crowded by the pool bar later in the day. Juan and Miguel are awesome. They only include drinks in the AI until 11 pm, which is ok if you have been "enjoying" all day. Be sure to try a Charro Negro.

We were there during spring break, there were a bunch of drinking college kids, but everyone was friendly and pretty much kept to themselves.

Our room was just a room, although we understand there were some that were spectacular.

The ocean was very cold, and only a few people braved it. The pool was also pretty chilly so we didn't get in the water much. The wind blows pretty hard every day so it makes you feel colder when you get out. There is plenty of shade around both pools, so if you get "sunned out" you can still enjoy the pool and beautiful views.

“Not the greatest”

Las Palmas by the Sea

2 of 5 stars

Apr 7, 2008

We have just got back from a 2 week stay at Las Palmas , and have to say that it was worse than expected. Firstly let me say that we are not picky people , and have stayed in Mexico 3 times and are used to the harder beds , but these beds were unbelievable, literally like rock . They are just very basic hard mattresses on concrete. We had to buy an eggcrate matress for the first time , then it was tolerable.
The showers were mostly luke warm and sometimes downright cold. The room was really really old , run down and falling apart. The outside door would not close very well , this they eventually fixed. The room smelled really really mouldy , the sink was all cracked with chips here and there , the patio doors were rusty. All this you can live with because all you really need is to sleep , but it was a shock when we checked in . We tried to get an upgrade but were told there were no other rooms available. The room however , on a positive note , did have a balcony that had an ocean view and also was very clean. The food was not too bad , you could usually find something to eat , but definitely not the greatest all inclusive food we have ever had . Drinks were mostly good except the wine. The best thing I have to say about the hotel was the staff , the nicest most personable I have ever met. This is what made our stay much better. Our kids enjoyed the kids club and activities. Also the location is good as it is only a 5 $ cab ride away from centro and malecon. The hotel is right on the beach , which is small but sandy with no big rocks, however the water had some sort of brown looking scum on top of it , so we swam in the pool. There are 2 , they were pretty good , the kids had fun in them. The night entertainment was some nights pretty good and other nights not worth going to. Fiesta night Fri was good. We saw whales whilst we were eating our breakfast on 2 occasions , that was very cool. Overall we had a good time , because we were in beautiful Puerto Vallarta , but I would not tell anyone to go here unless they were not expecting very much and got a super cheap deal. Usually we are so sad to leave , but this time although sad to leave Mexico we were ok with saying goodbye to Las Palmas.

“Excellent Vacation!”

Las Palmas by the Sea

I stayed at Las Palmas in PV and couldn't have asked for a better vacation! The hotel is awesome, especially the staff. Everyone tried really hard to make sure everyones needs were met. My room was clean every day. The bed was a bit on the hard side, a concrete slab with a mattress on top. However after a day in the sun you are tired enough to sleep on a rock, so all in all it wasn't too bad. My room was ocean view with a patio. This was my first solo trip and I couldn't have expected any better. I highly recommend the massage! $35.00 for 60 minutes. Carmen and her partner are amazing! The beach is small but the pools and patio make for a great place to sun and watch the sunsets. The adult only pool is so nice. The staff at the hotel monitor it on a regular basis, children are not allowed in this area, so relax relax relax! There is a pirate ship that cruises the bay every night, what an added feature to your pictures! The food is definitely adequate, with excellent choices. There is a nightly BBQ that you can attend, (reservations required) and an ala cart resturant that you are allowed to attend once a week. The hotel location is really convenient to alot of other places in PV. I caught a bus and went to the malacon for a days visit. Amazing sand sculptures were being built for the Easter holiday. PV is a safe place to wander around in, even alone! I would definitely stay again at Las Palmas, in fact I'm already planning a return trip.

“Fantastic & Safe Holiday”

Las Palmas by the Sea

5 of 5 stars

We have just returned from a week at Las Palmas by the Sea. The hotel covers all your needs in safe travel, and we have never experienced such incredible service before. We didn't want to leave the peace and tranquility of the hotel. We were just expecting a few nibbles but breakfast is a lovely continental spread with cheeses, fruit, pastries etc. Quite difficult to fit in any meals out after all that!
During the afternoon it's literally so relaxing you can nap by the pool or ocean. The pools are lovely, one for the kids with activities, one for the adults with a hot tub. The security/pool attendants were wonderful.
Overall I would say this is probably the best/warmest hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday!
The view is FANTASTIC! Ask Juan to make you his famous Mojito or as his Canadian friends call it a Juanjito!
