“Relaxing week in Sunny Acapulco”

Park Royal Acapulco

Park Royal Acapulco is a terriffic hotel. We are Royal Holiday members, so we had our own concierge. (Gustavo, who was the best. Very helpful & friendly from the moment he picked us up from the airport until he helped us load our bags into the van for departure). Besides Gustavo, the staff was extremely friendly & courteous. Not everyone speaks fluent english, but noone seemed aggrivated by the fact that I didn't speak Spanish either.
The food was good. There wasn't a big variety from day to day, but it was all very tasty. Most of the dishes were outside my normal diet anyhow, so it wasn't like I had to endure meatloaf for 8 straight days.
Rooms were a little smaller than I expected, & the beds were very hard. We didn't have hot water the first 2 days. But to their credit , once we made them aware of the problem, they had maintence fixing it within hours. We had hot water for the remainder of the stay.
All facilities from the beach & pool to the hallways to the lobby were kept extremely clean! There were constantly people coming around collecting cups & plates poolside.
The views were spectacular! This hotel is in the diamond district, across the bay from the main strip. At night the whole city lit up providing incredible scenery. Both evening restaurant choices & the main lobby / bar area have huge windows allowing optimal views of the beautiful nightscape.
Only 10 minute cab ride to town & the main strip with all the action or shopping. But far enough away to allow for a quiet, & private time on the beach or at the pool.
The beach was smallish. The water look a little grey, but only because it's the bay & a little churned up. The water is crystal clear & clean. I stood in water up to my neck & could easily see my toes.
Overall a relaxing & enjoyable resort spot. But probably not for spring breakers or those looking for a party hotel. More peaceful family environment.

    • Disliked — The public areas (lobby & restaurants)could have been kept cooler. I was too warm for inside. The humidy called for AC.

“Nice Hotel- Not a Spring Break Party Spot!!!!”

Park Royal Acapulco

4 of 5 stars
Dallas, Texas

Again I find myself looking for a business hotel in a resort town. The Park Royal Acapulco is by far the cleanest hotel I have stayed in within Mexico. Rooms were very clean and smelled clean! The hotel only has 12 rooms with king beds so plan on a double bed room. If you are a Spring Breaker Listen to me good!!! THIS IS NOT A SPRING BREAK HOTEL AND IS NOT NEAR THE ACAPOLCO STRIP!!! YOU WILL BE DISAPOINTED, MOVE ON! Now if you are a family looking for a nice place to stay that is quiet and about five miles from the action of down town, this is your place. I noticed most people staying at the hotel were from other parts of Mexico on vacation. I was on business and quiet/clean hotel is what I look for!

The food was very good at the seafood restaurant located near the beach and breakfast in the main restaurant is very good, however the seafood place closes at 16:30 and dinner is not until 18:30. If you can book dinner at the Italian restaurant, do it, reservations and slacks are needed, but the main buffet for dinner is not so good. The pool also has a snack bar that is good with burgers and dogs.

Be prepared to walk some steep hills while you are there. The hotel is built into the side of a cliff and has a tram to get you up and down, but it is slow. I found I could get a bit of a workout walking up and down the hill from the beach and seafood restaurant. It did burn the muscles in the back of ones legs. If you need a wheel chair or need assistance in any way I would look for another hotel as this could be a real challenge.

Like all hotels there were a few things I did not care for. This is not blue Caribbean water; it is a bay, so plan on what looks like brown river water. The water is clean, just churned up. You will be OK if you are aware of this ahead of time. I did not like the fact that the balconies to rooms were shared with the neighbor. Don’t plan on a private evening; you may be sharing it with the person in the next room. A few other things are the internet, forget it, they have four computers in the lobby but they must be dial up and they charge you to use them. There is a wireless network for the hotel computer that is unsecured. Check to see if you can pick it up in your room before you go pay upstairs. It was a weak signal but I got on one day. They also charged you about a dollar per day for the lock core to the small safety deposit box in the room (I hate that).

The TV was small but had lots of English stations with news. I felt like I was able to keep in touch at night with the world. We did go into the main strip of Acapulco one day and it cost us about $10.00 US for the cab ride. Not bad if you are with other people but always negotiate the rate before you leave the hotel. No meters in Mexico. When I come back to Acapulco I would stay again. I liked this hotel and found it relaxing without the die hard party scene of the Main strip.

My husband and I stayed here two nights before leaving on a cruise. I certainly had my doubts after reading several reviews.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It was all-inclusive and we never had to worry about leaving for meals. The food in the buffet was really not to our tastes, but the speciality restaurant was fabulous. I can't say enough about the service.
Also we had lunch by the pool and it was great also. The breakfast buffet was good also. If going, I would eat only breakfast at the buffet. Lots and lots of Mexican dishes that I couldn't identify.
The front desk was very unfriendly. I think perhaps they did not speak English and didn't understand most we were saying.
Our room was small, but very clean and adequate for 2-nites.
The view from the balcony was wonderful!
Problem: Shower water went rapidly from HOT to cold. (whenever someone flushed)

There were no time share offers. No one even approached us.

I would return. Several couples on our ship told us how much the food was at their 4 & 5 star hotels, we decided that we certainly made the correct choice.

“My wedding at the Park Royal”

Well i went to the Park Royal to get married with my long time boyfriend. We had a party of about 80 people. The hotel was NOT always accomodating seeing as how, as many people have already said not everyone on the resort spoke english. The resort however is very clean, and I repeat very clean. The food was good, same food you will find at any other all inclusive. The beach is small. The beach is small, if you are going for the beach this is not the resort for you. Also, you are not on the side of the city so you are going to have to take a 5 mins cab ride to get there. The cabs are out to make a profit so ensure you ask the rates before you get in the cab, be assertive, they lower their prices! The resort is very nice but on a steep hill and while the elevators were working throughout the stay, if they had been broken i would have been a very grumpy girl lol. The wedding was beautiful, picture perfect. My suggestion is that for the flowers and cake go into town and order it, its much cheaper, also make sure you have everything in writing, people are very ....lax.... in Mexico, they might try to take you for a ride. P.s. get a photographer, its worth it!

“I would never stay in the Park Royal again.”

First of all, you should not go to Acapulco any time around Christmas or New Years as Mexicans from all parts of the country go to Acapulco for vacation at this time. The town was overcrowded with all classes of people. As for our hotel accomodations, we were not impressed with the low quality of food and service at the Park Royal. You have to make reservations for one of the restaurants but the people say the reservations are all full (when clearly there are about 12-15 open tables all night). They also nickle and dime you for everything (gym is $5 every use/ Internet is $3 every use). The taxi situation was also annoying as you pretty much depended on them to see anything outside of the resort.
I would recommend the Princess hotel as it is far superior in quality. The beach by the Mayan/Princess etc is much better there too, make sure you stay by the Pacific Ocean and avoid a hotel on the bay.
