My girlfriend and I stayed there in January and had a nice time, however these rave reviews seem different from our experience. While Barrett was nice and people were accomodating I would hardly call it a tropical oasis. It was like a nice motel with clean cabanas that had good kitchens. Functional, but certainly not paradise. My biggest problem with the place was that the beds were awful. We stayed there for 6 days and a bad bed can really effect you vacation. They are basically mattress pads set on wire cots so they sagged horribly.
Another thing of note is that the crowd there is mostly older. I'm in my mid-thirties and hardly a party animal, but it was painfully quiet. So if you have a bad back or want to have a livelier vacation I would suggest staying elsewhere. I've traveled the world and gone to many seaside cabanas and this one is average. I had high hopes after the reviews, but they seem disproportionately gushy. The fish monger at the end of the block is nice though.
