“Better than Expected”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

5 of 5 stars

I just came back (last night) from a wonderful 5-night stay at the Condado.
We were upgraded to an ocean-front room, without asking. The views were to die for, and the room we had was absolutely beautiful!
We arrived early, too early for check-in, and killed time by strolling down Ashford Avenue to Hacienda Don Jose for lunch. When our room was ready, I was shocked to learn that our bags had been brought up already. I immediately chased down the bellhop to give him a tip. Talk about the opposite of pushy!
We loved the Italian restaurant on the mezzanine, had both breakfasts and dinners there - also stopped by for ice cream in the afternoon. Prompt, friendly service.
The food at the freshwater pool was so delicious! The best crispy wings (buffalo wings) I had ever tasted!
And the Strip House restaurant was probably the best restaurant I've eaten in, in my life!
The concierge was so helpful with everything. We booked one tour through them, and it was delightful!
I used the fitness room each morning.
I'm looking forward to returning!

“Overall good with minor cosmetic flaws”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

Jun 26, 2008

As the title states, it was an overall good stay. I stayed in the Condado Plaza on Memorial Day Weekend. Just to state the facts, I am a very well travelled individual and rarely complain to management (I just don't go the place anymore), I was also most of the time out and about. Also, Hillary Clinton was staying in this hotel on that weekend, so there was a lot of security around. Stayed a(group of 5) on the main ocean tower on a (2) city view room.

Pros:

1. Beautiful Hotel, newly remodeled rooms with all the amenities.

2. Lobby very contemporary, and grounds impeccable. No complaints, except elevators were too tiny for such big buildings (2 towers), therefore were slow or were packed and had to wait two or three times for it (if there's space go in, even if it's going up).

3. Great big bathrooms, although there were no doors to close (sideways, gap between door and wall). So, technically anyone could see through the double door. No problem in our case.

Cons: It might have just been my room??

1. Some minor issues during my stay such as remote for the LCD screen tv did not work properly (could not regulate volume).

2. The curtain and blackout shades could not be closed since the stick to move it side to side was broken (stuck) and thrown in the terrace (housekeeper should be aware and report those things).

3. The door that lead to the terrace would slam shut since the top part of the door (don't know how it's called, mechanism to close slowly) was broken. I could see that the Lagoon Tower had new doors and windows that the city view ocean tower did not remodeled.

4. The other room's mini-fridge was not cooling.

Other minor problems, such as water splashing out to the floor from the shower, are true.

Did eat at the Japanese place (great service and food), had breakfast at Gusto di Italia (great service and food), and the Strip House (excellent). In other words, restaurants were excellent, as well as the pool area, lobby, grounds, etc.

Did get a great rate by booking directly from their website (4 nights for the price of 3 special). I will try the Reach Resort in Key West for the July 4th weekend. Will let you know.

Would I go again?? I don't know!! I think I would rather try the Renaissance or go to the Marriott in San Juan.

“Good Hotel and Good Location”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

4 of 5 stars
San Diego, CA
Jun 26, 2008

We stayed one night at the Condado Plaza Hotel . We were catching a flight the next day to the BVI's and decided to stay overnight at this hotel. We stayed in an ocean view king room.

Here is a synopsis

Good:

Rooms are nice and have been remodeled.
Large balcony (if not on 2nd floor)
Modern Hotel and easy to get around
Fitness Center was great
Location, close to Old Town and Airport

OK:
Pools were just Ok and a little crowded with kids screaming

Not So Good:
Drink and food prices (bring your own drinks)
Beach, not much of one
Casino, if you are used to Vegas, this will be a disappointment, but it is supposed to be the nicest casino in PR
Check in was unorganized, no real line and people were cutting
Elevators are really slow, so be prepared to take the stairs

Overall I think this was a nice, modern hotel. I would stay here again.

“Luxurious and Beautiful Hotel”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

Jun 11, 2008

The Condado Plaza is a very modern and beautiful hotel to stay in. They have restaurants, bars, dancing, live salsa, and great pools. We became huge fans of the pool area. They have a sea water pool that is amazing. The staff were so helpful and our rooms were very modern, comfortable and clean. I'd go back there anytime.

“This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

Jun 10, 2008

If you are thinking about staying in Condado, I recommend the Condado Plaza Hotel. Recently renovated, (although the painting on one side of the building was not finished) the hotel has a contemporary feel and look to it from the lobby to the room itself. A huge aquarium greets you as you walk in and the rest of the lobby and mezzanine level, where the casino is, are decorated with an art deco style that screams fun. The room was the highlight however. The new, plush furniture and plasma tv were a perfect fit with the bright colors of the walls and area rug. The room was tiled throughout which gave it a nice, clean look. I never want to stay in a carpeted hotel room again! The stand alone shower with glass walls in the spacious bathroom was a big hit with the gf and just added to the uniqueness of the entire room. The digital thermostat was a nice thing to have as well. For the small amount of time spent in the room, we really enjoyed coming back to it after a long day. Our friends who stayed at the Hilton next door said our room blew theirs away! The ocean views from our room were breathtaking. The grounds were well manicured with hammocks and lounge chairs within a stone's throw of the Atlantic for those who prefer peace and quiet while the 2 pools (one with a swim up bar and huge slide) were perfect for enjoying a cocktail or two and/or letting the kids burn off some energy. The staff was friendly and knowlegable and all spoke English. The only complaints I had were the bathroom sink drained very slowly and was not fixed even after notifying the front desk. The elevators were extremely slow which caused most elevator rides to be crammed with guests as it seemed people were constantly waiting to ride. Finally, the room service prices were too expensive in my opinion...$6 for corn flakes is a bit much. Overall, for the money spent on the room, I think we lucked out and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
