me and my wife went on our honeymoon and stayed at dreams from june 8th through the 16th. as everyone has mentioned the ride wasn't great due to the potholes in the roads but it appeared they were attempting to add another road. i think we had a good driver also because i really thought the ride would be worse.
upon arrival we were greeted with champagne and check in was a breeze. it took about 10 minutes tops and recieved an ocean view room which we didn't even book so that started the vacation off great!
the room we had was really clean and our bags arrived about 5 minutes after we got to our room. after that straight to the beach! the beach was perfect, sand was white and water felt like it was an indoor pool, absolutely perfect temps. as i'm sure you heard in other reviews make sure you keep to the left of the trampoline turtle to avoid sharp rocks in the ocean.
the entertainment was great, 50 cent, mickey mouse were always up and by poolside before anyone else seemed to be out there trying to get as many volunteers as possible to participate in the games. we did the egg throwing contest, pillow fight in the pool (which was hillarious) and there was water polo everyday which was fun to watch. whether you want to participate or not is up to you but it is fun. if you just want to relax and not be bothered you can do that as well, i suggest you go to the ocean or poolside that is farther away from the ocean near the bridge by the waterfall. the late night shows were enjoyable and you can tell the team really enjoys there job.
the wife and i are drinkers and the there are plenty of bars to choose from. poolside is great and wilson makes a really good special called "wilsons' special" (taste like creamsicles) and the lobby bar which we spent a lot of time was personally my favorite. domingo, andres and chocolate are a trip. great bunch of guys that deserved the tips they got.
the food was pretty good, i'm not that picky though. oceanic had pretty good tendorloin, shrimp and chicken was good and they have this appetizer that comes in a huge pineapple that looked really good. the world cafe had everything you need, chinese food was excellent and surprisingly the pizza was really good. they had a lot to choose from. breakfast was good to and i suggest getting the omelets, they were fresh and really good. room service was great as we didn't feel like walking to the world cafe a couple mornings and were running close on time (breakfast stops at 10:45am) and room service was there to the rescue. 20-25 minutes most times which i thought was very fast. the japenese resturaunt was a 1hr 1/2 wait so make sure you reserve it early. didn't want to wait but heard food was very good.
pool was excellent as well as the grounds. very clean, flamingos and parrots right out in the open to touch. water was very warm and at night the lighting was bueatiful and the beach was very romantic to take a walk on.
nightlife isn't great, not much to do but by nights end i was exhausted and didn't want to do anything anyways. i recommend this for couples, we met a lot of couples down there and had a great time. everyone was very friendly and when approached by staff was always welcomed with an hola!
