Easy, i do it all the time. Just go to the corner of Hollywood/Highland and take any bus(# 212, # 217, # 780) to Santa Monica Blvd(ask the busdriver, he will let you know when to get off) From there you take the # 704 on Santa Monica Blvd(DO NOT TAKE THE # 4!!) all the way to the beach

Trip will be about 45 minutes one way

Might add that you should get a daypass, which is $5 for unlimited rides on the metro/bus system, so you could easily take the bus to Venice or other areas around town while you at it

Thank you. Have booked the Best Western Hollywood Plaza but would like 1 or 2 days at the beach aswell before heading back to rainy Ireland! Have looked up TA's top LA attractions and there seems to be a lot of museums. We are not real museum buffs. Will one week in L.A. be too much for us without a car?

One week? I have been here almost 20 years and have no covered all of l.a. and find out about new places all the time that would be worth checking out

You can always go to www.metro.net and use there trip planer, just punch in the adress of your hotel and the place/time you want to travel and it will tell you exactly how to get there

I am not a big museum buff either, but i think a trip to the Getty Museum is worth it alone for the architecture/views and experience in itself. Might want to have lunch there by all means. You wont be sorry to do so

Have to much time on my hand on the 4th of july before the fireworks, so might aswell give you some pointers

You are in Hollywood, which is very centrally located. From there you can easily reach places like Beverly Hills, West Hollywood/Sunset Strip, The Farmers Market/Grove, the hip shopping district on robertson, Melrose Ave and downtown l.a.(have lunch at philippe's. a l.a. institution)

Do a little research and see what you like, i am sure you will not get bored spending a week in L.A.

Anytime, heading to the Hollywood Bowl in a little. Also a place you check out if you are here, go to there website www.hollywoodbowl.com it does not really matter who is playing, the bowl is an experience in itself where you can bring your own food and drinks and meet a ton of like minded people. Always a good time!
