What is your husband's concern?

Chinatown is a fun area, with plenty to do, 24/7. Just walking the streets is a real kick.

You will be located next to Sampeng, Chinatown's wholesale district. A real shopper could spend 8 days there alone!

Although the traffic gets nuts around there, you're pretty much in the middle, so you're halfway through already! ;-)

Hi,

I think 8 days in chinatown is too long. There's other places in chinatown for u to explore. And the distance from chinatown to other places like Pratunam and Siam Sq are pretty far. Would advise u to stay 4N in gcp and another 4N in other's bkk hotel. For wholesale shopping, probably u can consider pratunam area. Either Ecotel or Baiyoke boutique hotel are relatively good and cheap hotel. Less than US40 a night. Cheers.

I agree with Curt. What is the perceived problem? I though the hotel got pretty good reviews especially for the price. You are staying in a city hotel not a resort and you are in the middle of Chinatown which is a great eye-opener for young and old. If you want a quiet and relaxing day for the kids I recommend a trip to Dusit Zoo which is on that side of town. A taxi ride away and entry is embarrassing cheap and you will see some animals not found in Aussie zoos.

The hotel Aussies seem to love is the Pathumwan Princess which is ajacent MBK, a shopping centre where you can spend a day and has the usual fast food places that may appeal to the kids.

cheers

The Hard Rick in Pattaya is overpriced and has smaller rooms than equivalent hotels. The breakfast buffet is a mad house in the mornings and the whole place is incredibly noisy.

Actually I think staying for 2weeks in Pattaya is way to long.

Had 7 days at GCP. Fun place to stay at, China Town is great. Taxis are cheap so being a little out of the way is no problem. Get a taxi to the train station and the catch the underground.
