I lived in Moab during my Jr, year of high school 1962 -1963 and this was Charlie Steen's house that set empty on the hill. It had a certain mystic. I stopped in Moab in the early 1990's and had lunch. I has a great view. more
Located in a house that used to belong to a 50's uranium tycoon, the place is reachable by a winding and potholed mountain road. The house, perched on the side of a mountain, is a 50's house, large but devoid of any charm. At least you are enjoying a panoramic view while partaking of their so-so cuisine. My steak was... more
I have eaten here four times for dinner. Every time I come to Moab. The food does vary based on who is cooking but it has always been good. The ambiance is excellent. Parking is a problem but worth the food and views. Prices are reasonable for the food quality. Expect to pay $60 for a dinner for two with... more
We went to Sunset Grill on 4/24/08. We were a party of six, so we made a reservation. They were starting to get busy, so the reservation was a good idea. The views were awesome, and I took a bunch of pictures. The building is cute and '50's, and the bathroom was HUGE! One of the specials of the night... more
We ate here on a Saturday night, at about 8pm. You would think that we might have to wait a while for a table, but we were seated straight away (due to not fussing over a table with a view) (and why do you need a view when it is dark, and raining outside) I ordered the Shrimp linguine, and... more
The food is excellent and the view is breathtaking. Sure, the building itself could be updated a bit, but who cares. The staff was very friendly and there were PLENTY of tables (if not all) with a beautiful view. We sat out on the deck and very much enjoyed the prime rib. We'd definitely eat here again. more
Our trip to Moab was wonderful in almost every way. An ugly incident cast a shadow on our vacation. The town is small, quiet and friendly for the most part. Sunset Grill promised beautiful vistas from its lofty perch and it delivered. We sat on the patio and surprisingly the chairs were white plastic lawn chairs that seemed disturbingly tacky... more
If you've ever heard the expression: "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." you've got a good idea of the way the Sunset Grill fails to put its best foot forward. Driving up to the restaurant was as challenging a 4x4 course as could be found in the treacherous wilderness surrounding Moab; it evokes third world... more
I had a wonderful meal here on May 24 2007. Smoked salmon appetizer, salad, pan fried trout entree. The service was very professional and attentive. The sunset was more of a red glow in the sky with tinted clouds, but still delightful. My only suggestion would be for them to lose the plastic tablecloths and upgrade to cloth. I would... more
