Makaha Resort was a beautiful relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki which by the way resembles pricey Miami Beach. The resorts staff were very friendly with tons of information. My wife and I were at the bar alot since its the latest place that is open. We had a great time with Tiffany the bartender, especially the... more

My husband and I stayed at Makaha Resort in Feb. 2008 for 12 days and have reservations for Feb. 2009 and simply can't wait to return. It was so peaceful and the staff was wonderful. Our son and his family live there. We chose to stay at the resort to get some rest and relaxation when the kids didn't have... more

We spent a week at Makaha Golf Resort for our 25th anniversary. Looking on line the resort sounded like the perfect choice. I did note a few somewhat negative reviews prior to booking but the negative comments did not seem too bad. The drive to the resort was in the late afternoon. I did not think that it was THAT... more

The journey to the resort went through some poor area with people living on the beach and I was most apprehensive about going to the resort. It is an old resort built in 1969 and could do with a lot of TLC. I could not eat the food as it was all cooked using wood chipping which added a distinctive... more

Just got back from a week at the Makaha Resort Golf Club. After reading most of the reviews of this resort for the past year, I felt prepared when I arrived. We did not experience too many problems, but this hotel is pushing it when they call themselves a resort. First, about the area: The area around the resort is... more

I can't help writing a review in response to some of the more negative ones I've read. We stayed at the Makaha Resort for the second time this May and have fallen even more in love with the resort and the area. I recognize that it all depends on what you want in a resort; we stayed two nights in... more

Makaha is a small resort that is very aged. This is not a recommended hotel for Seniors. The parking is about a quarter mile from the rooms, part of that is inclined. The front office staff is not at all helpful. The restaurants are overpriced and under staffed. The food is nothing more than ordinary. Locals are often crashing at... more

Hi, I felt it was quite necessary to write a review of this Resort as, after reading some of the negative reviews, I was quite leery about going there for 2 weeks. Well...I was quite pleased that we did. We are timeshare holders and had a lovely room with a king size bed/table and chairs/fridge and a private balcony. Although... more

Stayed here a full week. Enjoyed how quiet it was, and liked the fact that it was away from busy, commercial Waikiki. Completed our open water diving at Ocean Concepts. Good staff there. A little disappointed in the seascape, although we saw lots of colorful fish. Had fun body surfing on Makala Beach. We were told to stick to beaches... more

I see a lot of bashing of this "resort" and I will agree that it has it's issues. It's probably as secluded as you can be from the rest of the island. That said, it really was no big deal to get to the popular sites like Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, Honolulu, Diamond Head, and the North Shore. You have to... more
