I chose this hotel due to it's close proximity to the Veteran's Auditorium. There isn't a hotel closer than this one. It was very easy and convenient for us to get to our dance competitions then sneak back to the hotel for a rest, swim or bite to eat. The hotel was usual Quality Inn standard. Front desk folks were... more
We stayed here April 20 2008 for the reason it was across the street from the event center (bonjovi). See picture taken from parking lot. We wanted a wheelchair room with a roll in shower. Apparently this hotel isn't much different from other hotels A wide door to the bathroom few rails around toilet and no roll in shower but... more
We stayed at the Quality Inn on our way back from Adventureland. September 2007.The hotel picture made it appear to be in a nice open area, but it is sandwiched in between some commercial property and right on a very busy street. I was VERY surprised and somewhat disappointed. But our room was clean and the kids loved the pool.... more
We had not stayed in the Des Moines area before and wanted to make our State Fair weekend trip a little less hectic so opted for an overnight stay. We looked for a hotel close to a Fair Shuttle Bus pickup point, read reviews on Trip Advisor, checked availability and ended up here. We booked about 3 weeks prior to our... more
We stayed here during the State fair week. The hotel is in a great spot to go to the fair and any shops downtown. The hotel inside is nice. Inside the rooms the bathrooms are disgusting. The caulk around the shower is black and the floors are dirty and were not grouted correctly. The view from our room was of... more
I was satisfied for the most part with my stay in this hotel. But for the price, I felt the service was very poor. The breakfast was fantastic, but when we went to the restaurant for a meal, the service was ghastly. We stood by a table for 15 min. waiting for it to be bussed. No staff came near... more
My wife and I spent three nights here for our honeymoon October 29th-November 1st, 2005. When we arrived, the front desk staff did a great job of getting us checked in, and even provided us with a room upgrade to the nicest suite they had avaliable, which was a bonus. The suite was very clean and impressive, and had a... more
We stayed at the Quality Inn in downtown Des Moines for one night on our way to Minneapolis. Overall, our stay was pretty average for a Quality Inn. The room was clean and staff was friendly. The property is a short walk from the Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall, but not much else. Our only problem we experienced during... more
I & my family booked a room for 2 nights (3/17-19) based on AAA's 3 diamond rating & the fact it was across the street from the Wells Fargo Event Center. Bad choice. The room was too small for 2 double beds. It was supposed to be non-smoking but smelled like an ashtray. During the night there were parties in... more
