rooms were tiny. breakfast consisted of some cold muffins and a hard boiled egg and some concentrate orange juice. repair and maintenance guys starting work above our room at 8am which was very loud. owner of the hotel is nice enough but do not pay the $200 odd dollars a night to stay here! more

This place was the size of a shoebox. Tiny, tiny, tiny. I realize that what one gets for their money has diminished of late but for $200/night...pathetic. The in room breakfast...not even worth it...two stale cold muffins wrapped in plastic, hard boiled egg and some mediocre yogurt...a waste of time and money. Good location though. more

My wife and I decided to take a last minute trip to Carmel for the Memorial Day weekend (Sat & Sun nights). The Thursday before the holiday weekend we were still searching for a nice place to stay with our dog. With such a last minute plan we really were not expecting to find much. Luckily, we stumbled upon the... more

Loved the fact that we could bring both of our dogs - we got one of the two suites (highly recommend for the extra space with the dogs). The place looks very charming from the outside and the location is top notch... BUT, the furniture was old and uncomfortable, seemed dirty. Bathroom is outdated by several decades, no A/C our... more

The hotel was magnificent we have never experienced such incredible service before. The restaurants, shopping, and the beach are all in walking distance what more could you ask for. The breakfast in bed was a real treat also, it was like a second honeymoon for the two of us. Over all I would say this is probably the best hotel... more

From the moment we arrived at the front desk we were treated like royalty. Mornings,we were greeted with a delivery of fresh breakfast pastries, delicious coffee and juice. The inn, with its quaint setting and ammenities, combined with the ammenities of Carmel, made us feel as though we had been suddenly placed in the French countryside. I could have been... more

I booked a room to attend a wedding in Carmel. However, a reservation with a paid one-night deposit means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the owner of this property. I recently received an email note that the reservations for this wedding party were ALL cancelled. Because playing telephone tag with a small inn can be inconvenient in different time zones, I emailed... more

We are a small Inn with a policy that no single group can hire out entire property. We have apologized and offered some goodwill compensation, that was accepted. Now I am certain our staff is aware of the situation and this will not happen again. I am very sorry we could not help this party on their stay in Carmel....

Warning: We visited this property in January while making plans for my daughter's July 07 destination wedding. We live on the East coast. We booked almost all their rooms for our wedding guests plus the parents of the bride and groom and posted this information on my daughter's wedding web site so that our wedding guests could secure a room.... more

When our favorite Carmel inn, The Vagabond House, was not available, they suggested Monte Verde Inn. The web site isn't ready and the few reviews were mixed. To say I was worried, is putting it mildly, BUT we throughly enjoyed the lovely little place! The bedroom was spacious and well appointed, the sun porch was lovely and the little kitchen... more

the Monteverde Inn is in a terrific location. A couple blocks from the beach and right in town. There were pro’s and con’s with our stay. Pro’s 1. Dog friendly. Our pooch was welcome which is always a necessary Pro. 2. Location. Right in town and by the beach. We walked to everything. 3. Room was cute. Little sitting area... more
