An amazing honeymoonWas not expecting much, but for a Sofitel would say substandard. Nothing positive to say, except the security seemed to be good. more
Stayed at the Sofitel for 5 nights in April. First time in Lagos, on business, and company who are very security concious, booked the hotel. The service, room cleanliness and general appearance of the Sofitel was better than I expected, although its local description as a 5 star is a joke. It reminded me more of a UK motorway lodge.... more
Hotels in Lagos, Nigeria February and April, 2008 I recently traveled to Nigeria in February and April of this year as a tourist. After reading reviews, I was very fearful to even go to that country. What I experienced and what I read were two very different things. Both trips I stayed part of the time at the Sofitel Moorhouse... more
First of all, Lagos is a difficult city to visit. It is a huge metropolis -- think of a slightly smaller version of Sao Paulo or Mexico City but in West Africa -- and lacks badly needed infrastructure. Having complained to the front... more
Nice Hotel. However as anticipated experienced some problems. Mobile phone was stolen from my luggage, I guess there always will be bad eggs in an egg tray. Had to haggle over unused telephone bill and drinks in the room. otherwise experienced quite curteus staff. more
The rooms are good, although very small. At US$280 a night, the hotel seems a bit expensive, but I gather that this is the going rate for hotels in Lagos. The only really irritating thing I encountered was a rooster (male chicken) in the adjacent property that crowed like crazy every morning from 05:30 a.m. to past 6:30 a.m. I... more
