Location is close to the Shinkansen train station which is an advantage, also in the train station are a number of restaurants (fast food –by way of service). The room is of reasonable size, but what lets the hotel down is the bathroom, this seems to be a box bolted into each room ( we saw 2 like this). The... more

I think that there could be 2 ways to experience this hotel: standard room and superior room. There are some 756 standard rooms in the original hotel and 228 superior rooms in the new block. We were booked into a standard room. Oh dear! If you have a booking, make sure it is for a superior room in the new... more

Pro - great location, just opposite the Kyoto Station and very near a convenience store and a yoshinoya Cons - ugly rooms - non smoking rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke - no temperature control in rooms (the front desk told us that the entire hotel is in "winter mode" and that only heat is available for the guest rooms.... more

This is one busy hotel but the level of service is maintained to a very high standard. The front desk staff are really good and there are other people on hand nearby for extra help too. I even saw managers taking it upon themselves to double as lift attendants in the mornings when things became very busy. The rooms are... more

Summary: Comfortable enough, felt a bit dated. Wouldn’t rush back -Location – directly opposite the main train station, 2 mins from subway and buses. 15 mins by train/bus from main city centre/shops. Excellent food shops and restaurants in the station complex. Check out floor 11 of the Cube! -Internet PCs.. only available until 10pm. Horrible classical music played in the... more

We stayed here three days as part of a tour booked through NTA . The location is right across from the train station and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Even though our room was on the side overlooking the train station it was quiet. Not a luxury suite, but comfortable and clean. There were three restaurants on... more

We stayed at the new wing of the hotel, so the rooms are relatively new and clean. Didn't encounter the bed bugs problem faced by earlier reviewers. We were actually quite impressed with the standards, but the room rate was pricey. The breakfast at the various restaurants (breakfast included with the stay) was not impressive - very common fare. In... more

I booked too late to get one of the better reviewed hotels in Kyoto, but wasn't dissappointed with this hotel. Location is the main reason to choose this hotel (accross the street from the main railway station, but it is also clean with all the basic amenities. If you don't need to get pampered with all the luxury, this is... more

The hotel is situated across the road from the JR Kyoto Station. It has a drinks vending machine and a free ice machine on our floor. On the ground floor near the new wing are vending machines for hot snacks, etc. Room size is acceptable but bathroom is on the small side. In the station are shops, restaurants, bakeries, pharmacists,... more

Very convenient location. Our room was in the newer wing and it was very nice. The bathroom was small but very clean, the A/C worked great. Staff spoke quite a bit of English which was very helpful. Thought it was well worth $120/night. Also, the staff were quite helpful. After sending our laundry down, we realized that my husband had... more
