Me and wife stayed at Building A of the Beijing Hotel for 5 days from the end of March to the beginning of April. After having read the negative reviews, my expectations were not high. However, during the 5 days stay there, we were quite satisfied with everything and did not run into any trouble at all. The best thing... more

We stayed at this hotel for a business trip organised by my husbands work. It definately didn't fulfill the five star rating regarding service. The staff couldn't be bothered and sometimes verged on rude. An example of this was when we arrived, my husband was paying the taxi driver. The door man was concerned with holding the car door open... more

We were supposedly staying at the Gran Hotel Beijing. The arrangements were done through our country by a travel agency who was an intermediate with a travel company in China. When we expected to arrive to the other hotel (in the same block), the guide left us at the Beijing Hotel. In the Lobby, the guide helped us with the... more

The hotel itself is very good, location wise and comfort wise. The room is big, well decorated, luxurious. The location couldn't be better, just a short walk to shopping street. The problem here is the worst service I ever experienced. The reception staff is rude, yell at customer and didn't help anything. Even when we had to call the taxi... more

Great location! Can't comment on room rates as I didn't pay. My room in the main building was large and comfortable, although not particulary modern or luxurious. It faced the main street and had a decent balcony - street noise anticipated, but was never a problem. I was wary after some negative reviews in here, but had no particular complaints.... more

Booked through a corporate deal so price was OK. Chosen because of location. Ask to stay in Block A at a room (we had an executive room) on floor higher than 14 requesting a view of Forbidden City and Tainanmen Sqaure. Spring April weather perfect with blossom everywhere and temperature great for day and evening. Entrance typical socialist era of... more

This hotel has a good location However, the service was terrible, with the staff ranging from indifferent to hostile. They also pulled a "bait and switch" on us in terms of our rooms as the ones we had reserved were mysteriously unavailable and only higher prices ones were left. more

The beijing hotel ajacent to the raffles beijing and very near the forbidden city has a lot of history and no doubt some travellers will book this hotel just for that fact, I advise Dont do it! The initial impression is of oppulence with grand downstairs facilities, it all goes wrong when you require the service that a supposed 5... more

I stayed twice at the Beijing Hotel, once in summer 2002 and another time also summer, but 2004. I personally think this is a decent hotel, with competitive rates to go along. Both stays were for business, and I was hoping to get the best location to get some last minute shopping done. So, to start off, this hotel enjoys... more

Overall, I'd say this hotel is not worth the price. Pay more for something better, or less for something with more charm, or at least that doesn't nickel and dime you with high prices. If you are at all on a budget, don't think of this as a splurge. It's not worth it. PROS: The location of the hotel can't... more
