I stayed for 4 nights at the Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel. My impressions are as follows: Reception: very difficult to communicate or even receive calls it appears that only one person speaks a broken English. The Chiang Mai Orchid has a beautiful lobby and the staff are helpful. The room we stayed in was large and spacious but rather worn. AC worked but did not do as efficient a job of cooling as other hotels we've stayed at. Buffet breakfast was very good. Although a reasonably highly rated hotel, the facilities and rooms were generally worn and the staff were, in the main, indifferent and occasionally unhelpful. Lovely lobby; OK breakfast; indifferent staff. Room was not properly cleaned--shower cap and hair in shower and showerhead broken. 一昔前は、チェンマイの一流ホテルだったらしい、このチェンマイオーキッドホテル。皇室の方も宿泊されたことがあるらしい。 でも、今はただの古いホテル。 元一流ホテルの雰囲気はあるものの、すべてに古い。 ただし、いい点もたくさんある。 まずは、隣にカードスアンゲオというショッピングセンターがある。 中には、スーパー、百貨店、小さなお店、映画館、銀行などがあり便利。カフェもあれば、日本食屋もあり、フードコートもある。 また、タイの乗り物はホテルの前から乗ると、やたらとぼられるがこのショッピングセンターの前の道で乗るとそんなことはない。 ホテルでは寝るだけ、あちこちに自分で出かけたい、でもそこそこホテルの雰囲気も楽しみたい。そんな人にはおすすめ。 more
