As part of a Trafalgar Tour, we spent two nights here, 22nd-23rd May, it is a really good quality hotel, magnificent breakfast, I'm not sure how the rate these hotels, but compared to other 3 star European Hotels, this was way ahead, the sort you cross your fingers and hope. Just returned from Birger Jarl. Nothing to complain about. Great location, just a 5 min walk from Radmansgatan station, if you walk down Birger Jarls Gatan you are in the heart of the city within 20 min. Stayed at the Birger Jarl for 4 nights in Mid-July for our anniversary. The hotel website suggesting that it's a "design"-hotel with individually designed rooms by Swedish designers is a bit misleading: there are some, but the majority is rather basic, but ok. We have both traveled a lot for business and pleasure and therefore like some of the business features in hotels when we are traveling for pleasure - as was the case on our trip to Sweden. We like staying in more of a neighborhood than the touristy center, so this was a great location. Some days a little more walking... more

Stayed at the Hotel Birger Jarl in May 2008 and it was a very nice experience. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the staff was very helpful and the breakfast was fantastic! Very pleasant, comfortable, clean hotel. Employees go out of the way to help. Breakfast ist great. Walking distance to the Old town. Great value for the money. Shuttle to the airport very convinient, less expensive than the train. There is a good restaurant just around the corner, with reasonable prices on Ternergata street # 19.
